- Presidential candidate Sarah Gonzales: “Some of these ideas might be too specific … but I’m pretty sure it makes more sense than 999.”
Sarah Gonzales, the only woman on the Republican presidential primary in Arizona, explains why she decided to run for president:
I am recently unemployed and in the process of applying for jobs. I saw the job for POTUS in the Weekly so I figured I better not pass up the opportunity. After my last experience, I really like the idea of being my own boss.
I took a look at the application and thought aloud: “This is it?!” Seriously, it’s the easiest job application I have ever filled out. AND I can also see who else applied for the job! I totally know my competitors!
After seeing who else applied from the Republican Party, I think I have a shot.
Anyway, my car is getting pretty old and I heard Air Force One comes with the job, too. There seem to be some outstanding benefits. Aside from the perks, I know I will have to make some tough decisions that affect a lot of people. I’m a pretty good listener, though, and feel confident I could get this country going in the right direction.
Some of my thoughts include:
• End all wars.
Bring the veterans home.
Use the money for job training and physical, mental wellness• Use more of the money for education.
Pay teachers more.
Fund arts education.
Fund physical education.• Tear down the border wall.
• Make bigger strides in solar energy.
• Veto the Keystone pipeline.
• Crack down on “white collar crime”
Use money from their assets to assist small and locally owned businesses.
Use money to investigate and exonerate all non-guilty prisoners on death row/lifers• End the death penalty.
• Begin the process of freeing prisoners, using money from the white collar criminals to fund job training, education and mental wellness.
• Make private prisons illegal.
• Close Gitmo. For real this time.
• Make detention centers for immigrants and migrants illegal.
• Give Native Nations the right to their own judicial systems.
These ideas might be too specific and some of them might be under state/local government control but I’m pretty sure it makes more sense than 999.
Sarah’s Bio:
I do lots of things. I’ve lived in Tucson for 12 years. I got my Masters degree from the UA. I worked for 8 years at a place that recently eliminated my position.
So now I’m working as a volunteer with youth and poetry and doing some consulting through my diversity consulting business while I figure out a more definitive next step.
I can sing, dance and slam poetry so if there is a talent portion to the POTUS process I will be super excited. I think there is room for at least some karaoke or Just Dance with the Kinect.
I’m originally from Oklahoma and I got my Bachelors degree in Sociology from there. I worked at Duke University previously. My background is in social justice education and I have trained thousands of adults and youth on issues related to making our world a more just place. I met President Clinton. I get most of my news from the Daily Show, Saturday Night Live, Democracy Now and posts my facebook friends share. And now I can say I once ran for President of the United States. Booyah.

Sounds like a liberal to me.
If your not a liberal in your 20’s you have no heart; if you are not a conservative in your 30’s you have no brain…………in this case no job. Basically she will fulfill President Barrack Obama’s campaign promises. Based on that she has a chance.
Dear Sarah,
I invite you to join my kitchen cabinet. I am applying to make a two hour campaign speech on Arizona PBS. I bring to the table a Vehicle for World Peace, that, 112 pages double column magnum opus Television Scripture lettered in design to perform on whirled wide television, all channels for all peoples at once, like old blind Homer – dusk until dawn, rivaling Dante’ of Divine Comedic fame, every line a delicate sensible rhyme.
I see the presidency as a stepping stone to world peace, beginning with a peaceful night when all mankind is doing the same thing at the same time—the course change in human history we all want — my contribution to a better life on Good Ship Mother Earth – Urf.

you have my vote. In fact you can be my vice president. I wish I had given more than 30 seconds thought to my platform, so it could be as specific as yours. Which – yes – is better than 999 – not that I ever read the 999 proposal. I thought that was a special price on pizza this week.
Sarah is by far the best major party candidate for president. She has an excellent and virtuous campaign platform. As an admirer of many vices, I would be pleased to serve as her vice president.
I am second from the top today in the New York Times comment blog on the republican debate last night:
“I watched the debate, but after a while I kept dozing off. The debates are a mix of American Idol, and Jeopardy. The contestants are auditioning for world leader in two minute time slots.
The back-and-forth between ‘Newt Romney’ showed one thing: neither are leaders. They don’t inspire. Our children (in bed before the debate) are not going to listen to either of them and imagine, some day, “I’m going to be the president.” Who would want to be like them?
Gingrich is a lobbyist without portfolio. Romney was born into the connections he made and became very wealthy. Good fior him not for us.
Notice not a one of them on-stage offered more than their policies and positions – bad poetry into which we are supposed to imagine what they will do, another example, but successful political poesie. “Yes we can.”
The sucker voters imagined all the things we want – reestablishment of our Bill of Rights, etc; that did not ha pen.
I am an independent write-n republican who is committed to run independent, though I seek the nomination of both parties to present a united face to the world. Here is an example what they lack:
My plan is to build ten thousand hybrid clipper ships wherever there is water and people need work. College students will crew the ships and pay tuition, solar voltaic sails will provide electricity, rotational masts will catch every gust, the sails controlled by electric winches. Clipper ships = 3 to 5 million jobs. 1500 characters.”

This needs to go in all the newspapers and get people thinking! Our country is in need of down to earth people in our government, not rich politicians.
Your candidacy sounds good. I stay in the party because it is very necessary to vote in the primaries.
Your platform is very reasonable. That is why it may never be adopted. Everyone now wants to push back the clock to the good ol’ days, i.e. the days of William McKinley. W.H.Taft tried that; even then it did not work. We have to move forward and realize that we live in a global situation. We may maintain our own values, but we must cooperate with others. Thank you. March Meadows
Thats the problem, obama won’t let us maintain our own values and the other side whomever they be will not cooperate with anyone on the opposite side….
No Bob, Obama won’t let you force your values on others-there’s a difference. And the other side will no longer let their rights be abrogated by puritanical nitwits such as yourself, which I’m sure frustrates you no end.
