In this week’s Skinny, Georgette Escobar, who has accused state Rep. Daniel Patterson of abusing her during a messy breakup in recent weeks, said that Tucson had seen the last of her because she was going into hiding.
Escobar said she had to vanish because Patterson had revealed that she was living in Tucson under a new name following legal troubles she had while in a different abusive relationship in California.
Well, it appears we haven’t yet heard the last of Escobar. Herreras reports that Escobar is now in La Paz County Jail following an arrest on drug charges.
We don’t have all the details yet, but La Paz County officials confirm that Escobar is in custody. Her bail has been set at $5,000 and she’s facing a March 16 court hearing on charges related to “dangerous drugs.”
“It’s not marijuana,” said our La Paz Sheriff’s Department source.
More to come.

Gee… maybe Dan Patterson actually WAS telling the truth, and everybody overreacted. Maybe there really IS something to that constitutional guarantee that everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Ya think?
Funny how you don’t extend the same benefit of doubt to Ms. Escobar…because lord knows nobody’s ever been wrongfully arrested for drugs or set up by a vengeful ex in a position of power, right?
It might be an overreaction if Patterson’s police files weren’t already so thick. Scary how quickly folks want to look the other way when it comes to domestic violence.
What a Political cover up!
Regardless of Escobar’s past or current troubles, Patterson’s actions are most unbecoming of a public servant. I don’t buy for a second that he didn’t know about her past (and he’s proven it himself), so what does that tell you about his judgment? And do you really want someone like that making LAWS????
I’m not saying that people who have had dubious pasts (oh, wait, how many times has Patterson been arrested?) aren’t worthy of being in relationships, but to flaunt that relationship and “hire” that person as your campaign manager and then use that information against that person …. yeah, that’s real sterling behavior right there.
The point is, it it NOT Escobar’s past, present or future at issue. The point is, it’s Patterson’s PATTERN of behavior and his response to the crisis at hand that make him unfit to serve as a lawmaker. I’m glad I’m not in his district, but if I were, I’d call for his resignation. I’d like to, as a Tucsonan, because he makes us all look bad. (I wouldn’t have voted for him in the first place.)
How about the accused being innocent until proven guilty…for both Patterson and Escobar.
Whats the heck mother fletcher,my heart goes out to Escobar, the only thing is she is dirty and thats fact…….no?
Rep. Daniel R. Patterson resides in the newly redistricted LD 3. In a tweet from him on 3/9/12 he plans on running for the Arizona Legistature for this district in the 2012 election. Now is the time for someone to oppose Daniel R. Patterson in the 2012 Arizona Legistative primary for LD 3.
