Apparently, Pat Robertson thought he was getting too many Christmas cards from the Jolie/Pitt household when he said that he didn’t necessarily think people should be adopting foreign children.

Relevant “weird” quote from Mr. Robertson for those who can’t YouTube at work:

I’ve got a dear friend who adopted some little kid from an old fishing town in Colombia. Child had brain damage and grew up, uh, weird. You just never know what been done to a child before you get that child, what kind of sexual abuse, what kind of cruelty, what kind of food deprivation, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

At least he showed remarkable self-awareness of the potential rabble he just roused, closing his rambling with, “OK, let’s get the next question, I’m in trouble.”

  1. “The weak,

    the elderly,

    the confused,

    the abused,

have become the victims of the men made prophets of our day,

portraying themselves to be lovers of God, and men.

    Thieves in disguise,

    but not to the wise.

    Ministers of fame,

it is they who have quenched the original flame.

    A humble expression,

    a soft spoken word,

    a tear in their eye,

    yet dwelling in lies,

being wolves in a holy disguise.

But the God whom they spoke of for profit, and gain,

shall be the one to extinguish their flame.

For the Lord shall open the eyes of men,

that the wolf be discovered in his unholy plan.”

  2. And people wonder why I’m an atheist. Humanity should have scraped off that obscenity centuries ago.

  3. Michael, It’s not difficult to understand why some people find it so hard to believe there is a God. It’s difficult for the human mind to fanthom a God so mighty that he had the power to actually create a Universe, and a world as beautiful as our home, the planet Earth.

  4. While I don’t agree with Pat’s reasons, I do think it’s a tragedy that so many kids in the US are looking for a “forever” home while potential parents adopt kids from foreign countries.

  5. I don’t claim to be a know it all, but I do know this: anyone who decides to take the advice of Pat Robertson can’t be firing on all cylinders. The comment made by Gonzo goes miles further with me than EVERYTHING that has come out of Mr. Robertson’s mouth combined!
