The day after the DuVal/Ducey debate in Tucson seems like a good time to air this. Ann-Eve Pedersen, parent of a TUSD student, president of the Arizona Education Network and my co-host on Education: The Rest of the Story, put together a segment “thanking” Doug Ducey for helping to put Arizona near the bottom of the nation’s per-student funding list.

  1. Money is not the reason these kids are stupid. That was suppose to happen in the classroom.

I have an uncle that’s an alcoholic and he begs me for money constantly. He promises me that he will not spend the money on alcohol if I give him some.

….and then he does it again.

I told him “we have to find a place of trust” before we can begin to talk about anything else.

I see that Ms Pedersen received the Crystal Apple Award.

Barrack Obama received a Noble Peace Prize….

    see what I mean?

  2. Money is, indeed, a problem for education when there is very little. Civilized countries PAY for quality education and respect their educators.

  3. The educational system is administratively heavy having worked in these systems. Money is not always the answer and the challenge of the demographics when the system for some reason has to be the main socializer. Aldi there is parental responsibility that is never added and the system becomes a babysitter. Education begins at home, but yes we need more funding but the blame game does not resolve the issues that everyone does not address.
