Secure Arizona PAC is an organization so deeply committed to Arizona’s well being that it’s located in Kansas City, Missouri, with a listed treasurer who also ran a political action committee fighting to preserve payday lending in that state. Now, they’re buying ads in the Republican primary for Arizona’s Senate seat currently held by Jon Kyl and going classy all the way, attacking Jeff Flake for agreeing with Barack Obama and the Latino representatives from Arizona in the House.

We’re all going to have to wash our eyes out with bleach (or decide to stop watching television entirely) before this election is over.

The editor of the Tucson Weekly. I have no idea how I got here.

  1. You only have to hide your eyes from the Republican commercials because of course every Democrat commercial will be the model of restraint and just inherent GOODNESS. Like the $millions spent by D.C. Democrats to get Barber elected. No attack commercials by national Democrats; we can count on that.

  2. I plan on an extended Costa Rica vacation until 20 Jan 13. The only problem I have is there is too much English language TV in the rentals I am interested in.

  3. Matthew: Where did I say anything about this being a Republican or Democrat issue. If you actually paid a bit of attention, you’d realize I’m defending a Republican against an attack from an organization that will buy some ads and disappear back into the ether. I’m pro-people commenting on our website, but if you just want to start fights, you’re going to get banned.

  4. I dont mind Matty, although I don;t agree with ANY thing he says. Its good for debate to have opposing opinions represented.

As far as the comment removals, I would really like to know what the REAL guidelines are for deciding to remove a comment. Because I have had MANY removed that do not violate any of the written rules. (And a few removed that obviously violated the written rules)

  5. I don’t like the idea of money from one state being used to fund advertising for political positions in another state. The best way to counter that is to raise enough money HERE to counter those ads with our own – ads that inform voters about who is funding the other ads and how those groups would benefit from having their chosen candidates win. I am not always eager to donate large amounts to a candidate’s general campaign fund, because I prefer knowing how my money is going to be spent – but donating to a specific campaign strategy (such as a bi-lingual advertising project) would allow me to know how my donation is being used.
