Hitler wasn’t too worried about the U.S. getting involved in World War II, according to a column in the Sunday New York Times.
“I don’t see much future for the Americans,” Hitler said in January 1942. “Everything about the behavior of American society reveals that it’s half Judaized, and the other half Negrified. How can one expect a state like that to hold together?”
Man, was he lucky the U.S. hadn’t decided to make itself whiter or he could have been in real trouble.
That was 1942. Since then, we’ve gotten even more Judaized and Negrified, not to mention our increasing Mexicanification. And what about all those Asians?
The 75-year-old quote is sounding more current these days with the recent emergence of white supremacists into the political mainstream. I’m sure I wouldn’t have to dig very far to find a similar statement delivered from a podium by a clean-cut white guy in a suit, or in an article on breibart.com.
No, I’m not saying Trump and his followers equal Hitler and his followers. Like the saying goes, History doesn’t repeat itself, but it rhymes. What we may have here is a racist, antisemitic rhyming couplet.
This article appears in Dec 8-14, 2016.

Really?
I’m not a Trump supporter, but I find your paranoia and the connections you draw between the great villains of history and this blow-hard real estate developer absurd.
You are aware that Trump’s son-in-law, a valued member of his “inner circle,” is Jewish, right?
When we see some policies move in the direction of depriving religious or ethnic minorities of rights in this country, I’ll start to worry and join protest actions. Until then all these Hitler references and “THREAT” watches are idle speculations and a distraction from the issues that matter. Economic inequality continues to increase and power continues to be further concentrated in the hands of the plutocrats while bizarre little posts like this are written to keep the attention of so-called progressives focused on non-issues.
Please cite “white supremacists in the political mainstream”. Names, actions, facts.
Why do you hate white people so much? Could it be the guilt of living off the back of taxpayers all these years destroying our public education system for your own selfish gains?
Want to hear a really good rhyme?
“While he claims all conservatives are nothing but bigots …
Safier has the brains of an angry-pint-sized idiot”
Sincerely, Danehick Sux
@Really I think what David and others are looking at are the trends and similarities between Trump’s rise and the rise of a typical dictatorial despot throughout history. The use of xenophobic rhetoric and scapegoating to appeal to base emotions of fear and anger and victimization. Granted, there is a lot of alarmist clickbait out there but the comparisons are valid and well worth a discussion especially considering some of his cabinet appointments. You mix that with his leaning towards the textbook definition of fascism, yeah, there is something to keep an eye on sooner than later.
And finally @ What, Again, “white supremacists”, “white nationals”, “Alt-right”, they can call themselves whatever re-branded term you want, theses are groups all sprang from the anti-zionist, racial purity state philosophy of neo-nazi movements. These groups all gathered around Trump. Ask yourself why?
I’m not dissing ‘white pride’ in any way, but America is a multicultural society. Period. A majority of patriots, citizens and Americans want it to stay that way and feel a rightful threat to that from Trump and the groups that he’s pulled into his mainstream fold. You want a name? Steve Bannon who unabashedly promotes those neo-nazi beliefs through his words and his ‘news’ site. You want actions? Hate-crimes are on the rise as reported by many mainstream and non-mainstream news outlets (https://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/n…), oh, you won’t find any of that reporting on Fox news, Brietbart or InfoWars. There are some facts.
And what is it with you and public education? Stay on topic. I’m sure there will be another article about charter schools that you can spend your days having a meltdown defending.
just for the record – ‘bigot’ and ‘idiot’ do not actually rhyme.
and if you haven’t noticed the mainstreaming of white nationalism, you’re simply not paying attention.
blissinfinite and someguy – facts, facts, any facts at all how white supremacists have entered the political mainstream? Any facts at all that Steve Brannon and Brietbart promote neo-nazi beliefs? Facts, facts, any facts at all? No, you have nothing because you’ve made it all up. You’re sore losers. It’s the Tucson Weekly and ‘progressives’ that are the radicals, those that won’t accept the results of the election, won’t accept the U.S. Constitution.
You lost, liberalism, ‘progressivism’ totally repudiated by Americans. Perpetrating Fake News won’t make you feel better. All you’ve got left is calling anyone that opposes your radical anti-American positions is to call them racists. It’s getting very old. And P.S., the Democrat party is DONE, except in isolated islands of communism like Tucson.
Safier and Danehy, the Stan and Ollie of the Weekly. What a pair of morons.
Jesus wept.
Reading the likes of those 2, who could blame him?
@blissinfinite – Good points, thanks for the response. Personally, the parallels I’m concerned about between the lead-up to WWII and our current situation are the economic ones. Seems like many historians argue that in post-WWI Germany economic desperation prepared the ground for dangerous ideologies to get a foothold. When the population is needy and fearful, they become vulnerable to arguments made by demagogues who bundle the prosperity they promise together with noxious ideas like returning to some mythical state of cultural purity and / or scapegoating groups of our fellow citizens as supposed “enemies within.”
Perhaps I’m wrong but I think if we keep our focus on the economic problems and what the REAL solutions to them will be for all those in this country who work for a living, we stand a chance of uniting citizens behind a sane and constructive policy agenda.
@What, Again Are you looking for me to post actual links? As Someguy said, you haven’t been paying attention at all or are just plain lazy. Brietbart is a ‘safe-space’ for alt-right (note: rebranded neo-nazi) stories and P.O.V (http://www.nationalreview.com/article/4421…). For more fun, just dive into the comments section of Breitbart to get same tasty morsels.
And lets not forget Richard Spencer and his saluting followers. I’ll let you take it from there.
” liberalism, ‘progressivism’ totally repudiated by Americans” That’s not quite true, What Again. In fact, voter turnout was 57% and of that 57% Trump received only a minority of those votes. So, no, there is no mandate or repudiation. The ‘left’ is NOT calling everyone a racist – in your victimized mind that’s what you see. Not everyone that voted for Trump is a racist, not at all and nobody is saying that, but all racists did vote for Trump. Own it.
@Really – Well said.
http://www.latimes.com/…/la-na-updates-trail-gu……
“One of the largest Ku Klux Klan groups in the country has announced a parade to celebrate President-elect Donald Trump’s win.
The Loyal White Knights of Pelham, N.C., says on its website that its parade will take place on Dec. 3.
“TRUMP = TRUMP’S RACE UNITED MY PEOPLE,” says the website’s front page….”
Did you Bigot/Racist TRUMPIES Attend?
blissinfinite – “Are you looking for me to post actual links?”
Yes. Facts, examples. You said “Steve Bannon who unabashedly promotes those neo-nazi beliefs through his words and his ‘news’ site.” Prove it, show it, should be easy enough.
And as far as your link to the ultra leftist The Gaurdian – “The advocacy group collected reports of incidents from media outlets and its own #ReportHate page. SPLC said it was not able to confirm all reports…”
They simply made it up. How many Trump supporters that have been victims of hate crimes report it on the Guardian? How many media reports of hate crimes against Trump supporters did they include?
Just like you, they made it up. It’s FAKE NEWS and you’re perpetuating it. Just like Safier just made up his assertions.
And as far as post above
Ku Klux Klan Grand Dragon Will Quigg Endorses Hillary Clinton for President
http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2016-03-14/ku-klux-klan-grand-dragon-will-quigg-endorses-hillary-clinton-for-president.
You lost, an electoral college landslide. Under the leftist Obama, Dems have lost all power at all levels. And what you leftist want no longer matters. Total defeat. Now all you have is trying to undermine the will of the people.
“The ‘left’ is NOT calling everyone a racist”
Safier has and is (although thinly veiled as ‘parallel’ in this column)
Francis Saita just did as many do on this site.
Washington Post calls half of them racist – “Yes, half of Trump supporters are racist” https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/clinton-wasnt-wrong-about-the-deplorables-among-trumps-supporters/2016/09/12/93720264-7932-11e6-beac-57a4a412e93a_story.html?utm_term=.4f0f9fba0b90
CNN often called Trump supporters racist. Danehy says all racists are Trump supporters
I could go on and on with this one. And absolutely none of it backed up by facts. The one fact that we do have was Hillary Clinton – “Hillary Clinton, at a fund-raiser on Friday, said half of Donald J. Trump supporters were racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic.
Call us all the names you want, you lost.
@ What again “Fake News”?
Sorry, you’re delusional.
So I gather any news site that doesn’t support your view is considered Fake News? I’m sorry if my links don’t support your vision of a one sided ‘reality’. Perhaps you can enlighten us with your sources for ‘real news’. Please share.
blissinfinite – I’m not the one making the assertions that can’t be backed up. The Guardian is an advocacy site and they themselves said they can’t confirm the results nor was there any scientific basis to their findings, per your SINGLE link, not linkS.
No, seriously, What Again. What are your ‘real news’ sources? Inquiring minds want to know! You’re not going to be satisfied with anything I post so I want to know exactly where I should be looking.
blissinfinite – I get news from all over and check sources of that news and I’ve provide links.
Why are you avoiding the backup to your assertions? You said “Steve Bannon who unabashedly promotes those neo-nazi beliefs THROUGH HIS WORDS and his ‘news’ site.” Back it up or admit you simply made it up just like Safier and the false accuser/hypocrite Saitta (a real piece of trash that one). You got nothing, just another sore loser liberal.
“Saitta (a real piece of trash that one).”
You outta know about trash.
Hell, trash is all you ever talk. No real information, no informative news sites. Just the same old bullshit. Then you attempt to dump that on someone who actually challenges you and has facts to back that up. Seems like we got another sore loser right wing conservative here. Same old story, same old song and dance.
Oh shit! Time to stop reading, your mama is yelling at you from the top of the steps to let you know that your ham and cheese Hot Pocket is ready! Better jump on that shit before it cools down.
@what again, As did I. Unfortunately you’ve dismissed my links as being ‘fake news’ so I’m asking you where you get your so-called ‘real news’ from? I’m not asking for links to specific stories, just your news sources. “I get news from all over” didn’t answer my question so please share. I’m looking for more ‘reputable’ sources.
blisslink – so you are a serial liar as well. You did not provide links, you provided one. And I did not discredit the Guardian, they themselves (from your link) said they could not confirm results and the methods they gathered their responses. The Guardian has done some excellent reporting in the past. But the rate of hate crimes going up is FAKE NEWS.
@what again, Well, thank you for at least admitting The Guardian is one source that you have some respect for. Geez, that’s something. And I’ll admit that I did additional digging into the rise in hate crimes and it is, indeed, unclear that is actually the case according to the FBI statistics – though it does appear that crimes against Muslims has increased since last year (2015) as a general trend. But since the election? The verdict does appear to be out. And this from a pretty liberal site:http://www.vox.com/identities/2016/11/15/13628200/trump-hate-crimes-racism
Is it Fake News or bad reporting at that point? I think the distinction can be debated but the current topic of the day is Fake News so that’s shouted from the rooftops. I guess this dialogue is a good example of both sides (and I do mean both sides) needing to be less inflammatory (especially online – “serial liar? really?) because much more can probably be accomplished – but I’m optimistic. So an offered hand-shake or fist-bump or whatever you prefer to What again (and I’ve read plenty of your posts on here at the weekly)
As for ol’ Stevie:
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/15/us/polit…
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/election/t…
There was a good show on the Nazis and when and why they took power in 1918 on NPR today( Diane Rehm Show). Many correlations between then and now. What chilled me the most was both Trump and Hitler told followers facts were not real or didn’t matter and obviously many believe(d) that was true then and now. This show had many different people on who were conservative ( by their own admission), more liberal ( by how I heard them) and centrist (also as I heard them). We must be informed and we must all be aware that there are more trolls now than there was during the elections. David you certainly get your share of them. We need to call out fake news and many need to learn how to validate sources. It takes time sometimes but actually easy sometimes too.
blissinfinite:
I can tell you’re a kind soul, and for that you get major props from me.
But you’re wasting your time with the nastiest troll on the TW site, the stomach turning bug known as Wrong, Again.
This guy doesn’t give a flying f**k about your news sources. As far as he’s concerned, his ignorant word is law…no matter how much sense he will never make.
For him, it’s just about being a troll. A nasty, ugly, uneducated troll. And if you really have read plenty of his posts here on the TW site, you deserve a little bit of shaming for extending that olive branch to him. No one deserves that branch less than this fool.
Really Guardian? “Many correlations between then and now?” Do you remember Hitler cutting taxes and promoting economic growth through job expansion? Or a commitment to blacks in inner cities to help remove themselves from the rolls of generational welfare? I sure don’t.
And who told their followers things that were not true?
WASHINGTONPresident Barack Obama on Tuesday called Donald Trumps complaints about a rigged election and favorable comments about Russian President Vladimir Putin unprecedented, urging the Republican presidential nominee to stop whining and make his case to voters.
In his latest critique of Mr. Trump, the president said no serious person would suggest that U.S. elections were fixed.-WSJ Oct 18, 2016
Harry Reid stated yesterday that the Russian overthrow of our election was worse than 9?11. Really Harry!? Really?
You accuse the author of “getting trolls” and the need to call them out on fake news.(?)
WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND HE IS US.-Pogo
Great links Common Sense. I’m sure the snowflakes ignored them. Just look at how two faced the current President is. His press secretary Josh Earnest accused the media that reported the DNC leaks as “being an arm of the Soviet government.”
They are suffering a full scale meltdown.
Phoenix 10 news is reporting that Obama Birth Certificate is a fraudulent copy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKdP0IWOptc
That is not surprising at all. I wonder how he will try to explain it away. The Russians hacked my birth cert?
One way or another Trump got elected and starting even now the man’s character and integrity will be judged by history instead of his “base” of voters. As the crises begin (they happen) and if Trump doesn’t just quit someday, then we will all see what he is made of. And IMO this constant reporting of Trump’s weird overnight Tweets is not only counterproductive but boring. Mainstream corporate media is failing. Get serious.
I’m really not sure which party he represents because his lifelong beliefs were liberal and democratic in nature. But I love those overnight tweets. There is just something about waking up every morning and the POTUS is actually talking to me. This is awesome!
Awesome? Constantly shooting from the hip is a bogus alternative to seriousness, just another counterproductive distraction. President-Elect Trump’s Tweets get too much attention and make him look foolish. It’s like he’s just impulsively talking to himself out loud with no rational filter or thought. For example, he recently even spelled “unprecedented” as “unpresidented”. If only.
That’s funny. The media spun it as a very funny use of gotcha humor aimed at Hillary Clinton. Try not to be too critical of devices that prefill words as we type away. It may not be intendo as a miss steak.
Maybe WW III will start with an overnight Tweet. It could happen that easily. Having a soon-to-be-sitting president spewing on Twitter is weird and possibly lethal down the road. As for Hillary, forget about it. Kicking Hillary Clinton in the head when she is so obviously, completely and irrevocably out of politics is beating a dead horse. She’ll never be president, and she’ll never be prosecuted no matter what any Twitter Troll says.
she’ll never be prosecuted no matter what any Twitter Troll says.
What would she be prosecuted for? She has done nothing wrong.
