United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona is seeking volunteers for the 26th annual Days of Caring, the state’s largest volunteer event.

The two-day initiative will take place Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25, pairing more than 100 local projects with thousands of volunteers to improve the Southern Arizona community. Last year, more than 1,600 volunteers completed 95 projects, both onsite and virtual, contributing 4,800 volunteer hours.

United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona serves more than 400,000 individuals annually by uniting people, ideas and resources to build a thriving community. With more than a century of service, the organization focuses on educational success, financial wellness, healthy living, housing stability and homelessness. United Way partners with local organizations to design solutions that strengthen the community and local economy while tracking measurable outcomes to maximize impact.

This year’s focus includes outdoor projects such as wash cleanups, park beautification and painting, as well as virtual opportunities. Virtual projects range from collection drives and assembling hygiene kits for underserved communities to writing thank-you or encouragement cards for teachers and community members.

Major sponsors include Comcast and Texas Instruments (gold level) and Rio Nuevo, Southwest Gas and iHeartMedia (silver level).

“Volunteers are the heart of our signature Days of Caring weekend. Each year, thousands of generous people roll up their sleeves, share their talents and help transform our community — one project at a time,” said Vanecia Kerr, president and CEO of United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona. “The difference our volunteers make is felt by individuals, families, neighborhoods and the entire Greater Tucson area. We invite everyone to sign up, join the fun and experience how easy — and rewarding — it is to make a lasting impact.”
