On Feb. 22, 1984, the first issue of the Tucson Weekly hit newsstands, with a profile of Arizona Theatre Company’s Gary Gisselman on the cover, ads from Futons Etc. and Nino’s on First (promoting shows by Gentlemen After Dark, Naked Prey and the Meat Puppets), and a place selling waterbed sheets. Take a walk down memory lane with a PDF of our legendary first issue (the “saloon” review is a nice touch).
