There’s a great deal of disagreement around my house over the influence of the Disney line of Princesses and Fairies. My wife feels that the characterizations are harmful to my daughter’s emotional development and self-esteem, and I mostly agree, but am too much of a easy mark to tell her a crying three year old that she can’t have a Sleeping Beauty coloring book. Don’t put any stock in this artwork Dan. It just seems like more women hatred to me. Ariel is greedy because she doesn’t want to be stuck under the sea for eternity with the fishes and no knowledge of what the outside world holds? Jasmine (she is my favorite of course) is wrathful to want to be treated fairly and with respect and not to be married off to an evil troll-like man? Cinderella is vain because she doesn’t want to be a servant all because of other womens’ envy? Pfffft.
