A new restaurant called Apple Farm Bakery Diner is opening in the old 5 & Diner restaurant at 4520 N. Stone Ave., right by the Tucson Mall.
This has to be another project by the owners of the Apple Farm Bakery Restaurant near Benson – the sign is identical – but we’re out on assignment today and won’t be able to verify that until later in the week. If it is, expect some down home diner fare when it opens.
You’ll be the first to know when we learn more.

I took my family to eat here on 10/7/2011. The waitress was in a hurry to end her shift so gave very rushed service , she never asked how our food was and acted annoyed when asked about the desert that was supposed to be included with the meal. The side dishes were ok at best , my son had a chiliburger which he seemed to like, however the pork chops and steak were very dissapointing. My steak was brought to me well done when I asked for it to be medium and the pork chops were very dry. When I said something to the manager I was offered an insulting $2.00 off my bill. There was no offer to remake the food and no apology at all. I would avoid this place at all costs. Save yourself some money and go eat at an elementary school cafeteria it will be cheaper , have better service and taste better.
My husband went here 10/17/2011. TERRIBLE service, waitress with long hair over her right shoulder, swaying everywhere. Food arrived after 25 min. (only 3 other couples in entire resturant) The hash browns tasted and smelled of DIRTY GREASE, the biscut and gravy was cold and also smelled and tasted like DIRTY GREASE. We informed the waitress–who replied “O.K” . My husband and I left after paying our FULL BILL!! Avoid this place at all cost!!!!
My girlfriend and I ate at this joint on 11/03/2011. Our experience was very bad from the beginning! We were not greeted and had to seat ourselves. The customer service was terrible, our waitress was completely unprofessional! Not only did she not engage us as customers, she barely acknowledged us our entire meal. We would say, “thank you.” and she would not reply. During our meal, our waitress got into a disagreement with 2 other unsatisfied customer and came to us with an attitude and asked us about her handling of the other two customers. Although the atmosphere was nice, the service/ food was the worst i have encountered in my entire dining experience. It was so bad I felt justified leaving our waitress a 1 $ tip. Even if they offered me a free dinner, I would not go back to this establishment!!!!!!
