Writer and journalist, and damn fine poet, Jeff Biggers shared this poem welcoming Carlos Santana to Tucson at the CultureStrike event last week. Three Sonorans’ David Abie Morales put it on video for all of us to enjoy and spread the word in welcoming Carlos, who plays in Tucson tonight at Casino del Sol’s AVA.

I’ll tell you what, Mari: You’re right about the poem. Salud! I’m not really sure why Michael Franti is opening up for Carlos. I’ve seen Franti and Spearhead play several free shows in Salt Lake City, and at this point, Michael and the gang speak and act and play music on a higher plane. They really shouldn’t be opening for anyone. This is not to say I don’t dig Carlos, but when was the last time Santana made a new album? I don’t know. Were you there? How did the old maestro sound? I must admit to being a huge fan of Spearhead.
