WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden said Tuesday that his administration “will be ready when any ruling is issued” on abortion rights, after the nation was rocked by the leak of a draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court that confirmed the court is planning to overturn access to abortion.
“I believe that a woman’s right to choose is fundamental, Roe (v. Wade) has been the law of the land for almost fifty years, and basic fairness and the stability of our law demand that it not be overturned,” Biden said in a statement.
Biden did not specifically cite any steps his administration would take if the ruling is overturned, but said that it would “fall on our nation’s elected officials” to protect pregnant people’s access to abortion, and that voters should elect candidates who back abortion rights.
He said that he has directed his Gender Policy Council and White House Counsel’s Office to “prepare options for an Administration response to the continued attack on abortion and reproductive rights, under a variety of possible outcomes in the cases pending before the Supreme Court.”
The draft opinion, led by Justice Samuel Alito, was leaked and reported by Politico, and Biden cautioned that “we do not know whether this draft is genuine, or whether it reflects the final decision of the Court.” There’s been no challenge to its veracity, however.
“At the federal level, we will need more pro-choice Senators and a pro-choice majority in the House to adopt legislation that codifies Roe, which I will work to pass and sign into law,” Biden said.
The Biden administration in December defended its case in the Supreme Court on Mississippi’s 15-week ban on abortion. The case is known as Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.
If the ruling overturns Roe v. Wade, then access to abortion would be based on a patchwork of state laws. Red states have introduced some of the most restrictive limits on abortions, while blue states have passed laws to secure access to abortion.
Congressional Democrats have called for codifying Roe v. Wade into law. In a joint statement last night, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that “the Supreme Court is poised to inflict the greatest restriction of rights in the past fifty years.”
“The Republican-appointed Justices’ reported votes to overturn Roe v. Wade would go down as an abomination, one of the worst and most damaging decisions in modern history,” they said.

So let me get this right, the government cannot make you wear a mask to protect those vulnerable people that could die because it encroaches on your personal freedoms, yet the government can tell women what they can and cannot do with THEIR OWN BODIES!

I think Steven Fitzgerald comment was spot on. It is not a right in the USC so it goes back to the states to decide for their citizens. It never should have been federal law, but activists and politicians became power hungry and money hungry. Billions has been raised off this issue that never should have been a federal issue.

Joe Biden Catholics can’t have it both ways. Remove him from membership or the decent people should leave.
How much more will it take for the majority of Americans to wakeup and realize that everyone’s freedoms are at risk because a minority of powerful people are moving this country toward a virtual theocracy. Forget about ISIS, we have our very own home-grown Taliban right here in the United States, and like the Taliban, they are taking full advantage of geopolitics, the global and domestic economies, natural and man-made disasters, and social media to distract the people while they not-so-quietly remove those who would oppose them.
By the way Maria, who are the “decent” people, the ones who took native children in North America and stripped them of their language, culture and heritage, or the “decent” people who stood silent as approximately six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust — who spoke for them?
All sides were encouraged to voice their opinion and support for this issue, but to date not one baby has shown up. Let’s not repeat this fiasco again.

*Eliminate free speech including social media comments that you disagree with.
*Allow illegal flow of migrants and criminal unchecked into the country.
*Funnel money to Afghanistan so you and your son can receive a quid pro quo.
*Stoke fears of anything that promotes your agenda.
*Cut off oil exploration doubling and tripling gas prices, harming lower income Americans.
* Allow your supporters to tear down and burn down whatever they would like.
* Jail those that disagree with you.
* Change voting laws to allow for more fraud that is even harder to intercept through mail in ballots.
*Change trucking laws based on vehicle’s age to create a shipping backlog that slows down a pandemic starved economy.
* Pass laws to vaccinate people against their will to keep their jobs.
* Coordinate with leftist media to hide and lie about issues and blame others like Putin and Trump.
* Pay for a phony Russian dossier and get the leftists in Congress to claim they have proof good enough to impeach a sitting President, not once, but twice.
