On last night’s AZ Illustrated Politics, coming to you from AZPM’s new Studio A: City Councilman Steve Kozachik, attorney Jeff Rogers and radio-show host Miguel Ortega discussed the Democratic landslide in Tuesday’s City Council election; the ongoing efforts of the city to work with the Rio Nuevo Board; and onset of the 2014 congressional midterm elections.
This article appears in Nov 7-13, 2013.

Nothing will change in Tucson until we have ward only elections, but we know that those in power in Tucson will never allow that, that’s the only way they keep their seats. in all honesty there is no valid excuse to allow those outside a ward to vote for those representatives.
Do you think the outcome of the election would have been different with ward-only elections? The wards that were up for grabs were all heavily Democratic.
Republicans have shown that they can win city wide. From 2001 to 2005, they held what was essentially a governing majority on the City Council.
I watched the Friday show. (It’s the only part of the Az Illustrated worth watching all week, Mon-Thursday is unwatchable).
Loved all the chat about how we are moving forward from Rio Nuevo. My God, we pissed away $230,000,000 and got NOTHING and it’s all sweetness and light, rainbows and unicorns. Not a single person went to jail! Loved the way the crew on that interview including the host thought it was all behind us.
Sadly, this is the slow death the entire country has to look forward to.
Thanks for not having Trent Humphries on the round table. Much better without him. I also agree with fraser007. AZ Illustrated Monday thru Thursday is “unwatchable” and needs a fix.
Just to correct the record — you left out the fact that last time Karen nearly lost to Buehler-garcia because there was a Progressive Green, Mary DeCamp in the race!
Very nice to see the clueless Trent Humphries replace by Miguel Ortega!
