The video of Arizona DREAMer Erika Andiola with Cesar Vargas confronting Iowa Rep. Steve King—with Sen. Rand Paul running away is having a great run on the internets. And of course, making those in Arizona familiar with Andiola’s work on behalf of immigration reform particularly proud.

When King asked Andiola is she understands the English language after she asks the congressman if he wanted to rip apart her DACA card is priceless, but especially when she explains she’s a collage graduate. Paul is being labeled a coward for walking away, but perhaps when he saw DREAMer Andiola he realized he’d look worse than usual—like his friend King.

Viva Andiola!

  1. What a brave stance to take anonymously, scion of invaders who took land from those who lived here before them.

  2. Quit using the fact that Arizona used to be part of Mexico…it isn’t anymore…it now belongs to the United States of AMERICA and we have laws. People coming here illegally is no different than you stealing something at the local drug store…they are both illegal activities and there are repercussions for those actions. Justifying your beliefs based on something that happened 160 years ago is total BS. By the way, most of the hispanics I know that have been here for generations feel EXACTLY the same way…these people are here illegally.

  3. In Obama’s perverted world, you break the law, flaunt it and become a hero. This lady should be politely returned to the land she has a legal right to live in and stop bothering those who would work to solve this liberal-induced disaster.

My grandparents came here to escape the Mexican Revolution, escorted by Blackjack Pershing, and am I glad they did, as Mexico remains a corrupted mess. We do not need to import the Mexican way to the US. Seal the boarder now!!

  4. I commend Erika Andiola for her leadership and advocacy on behalf of all Dreamers – those who came to the U.S.A. as children.
Let’s remember that, in 2010, believing that it was the just and right thing to do, a majority of both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate voted in favor of the Dream Act – an act that would have created a path towards citizenship for Dreamers. But because of the Senate rule that required a super majority of 60 out of the 100 senators, the bill is said to have failed.
The sooner a path to citizenship is created for Dreamers, the sooner we all will benefit.

  5. The problem is once you give citizenship to one set of illegals it just encourages more illegal immigration as we’ve seen with DACA. Instead of demanding things from their adopted country, maybe these people should focus on contributing and be thankful they are lucky enough to be here and that we are generous enough to gift their children with citizenship, something most countries don’t do.

  6. Bisbee Boy, seal the boarder? Are you sure, oh native born American, you don’t mean border? Learn the words of English before you criticize others in it.

  7. For those who disdain politics as a blood sport, let me give you three examples. The one cited by Dave Gallagher wherein a supermajority is required to pass a bill is the first, and the second is the change in the # of petition signatures required for a recall election in Arizona. A third would be requiring a supermajority in the AZ legislature to raise taxes. Each of these is intended to move the goal post on the players. Bad form, I say!

  8. I don’t remember there being all this complaining when Reagan gave amnesty to the illegals during his term in office.

  9. gcb1,

Thank you for your kind help with my English; autocorrect has zapped me more than once.

Now, please address the substance of my concern – illegal presence in the US – why should it be tolerated much less rewarded. I fully support the existing legal means for entry and employment into the US, indeed I would be happy to see it expanded. To be sure, it is a long and complex process, but it works.

As for the points in your second post, I must claim a lack of information on the specifics, as I am on an extended business trip abroad. That being said, the concept of a super majority to raise taxes (any tax in my opinion) is a great idea. You and I pay these taxes, thus it makes sense to have the politicians who see it as necessary put their full force of office behind the increase.

  10. We know it’s just a matter time before Obama deploys ground troops to Iraq. Okay dreamers how about this, when you serve in our military for four years, your citizenship papers will be attached to your honorable discharge.
