I got an email from Rep. Andy Tobin last night. He’s running for congress in CD-1, and he has to earn the right (emphasis on “right”) to challenge Ann Kirkpatrick by getting through a crowded primary. His favorite email tactic is to tie Kirkpatrick to Nancy Pelosi, but hey, it was State of the Union night, so an Obama-Kirkpatrick link was low hanging fruit. “Sometimes I wonder if Obama and Kirkpatrick have even ever seen a copy of the United States Constitution,” he wrote, continuing, “because they sure don’t respect it.”

Gotta give Tobin some credit. He didn’t mention Kenya, Muslim, Socialist or Benghazi once. Gotta give Obama some credit too. If he managed to teach constitutional law at the University of Chicago without ever cracking the cover of the Constitution — wow, that man is good!

Tobin went on to say, “So we’ve decided to send both of them copies of our country’s supreme law.” Apparently he needs to raise some money to do it. “Help us send Obama and Kirkpatrick copies of the Constitution. Donate $5 today!”

I’d like to help, even though I’m not a Tobin supporter. I’m probably not as good at understanding the Constitution as Tobin must be, but I’m pretty excellent at using Amazon. Andy, if Obama and Kirkpatrick have Kindles, you can send each of them a copy for free. Otherwise, a Pocket Constitution with a lovely picture of a Founding Father on the front will set you back $1.50, or $1 if you have Amazon Prime.

  4. i feel Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick is trying the best she can. it must be frustrating having her job with people always telling her what she can’t do. we should let politicians do anything they feel like so they can get stuff done.

  5. Yes, Obama was a constitutional law professor and has demonstrated a complete disregard for the Constitution. This is what you get with Affirmative Action. The Obama presidency is what you get with Affirmative Action.

  6. Amazing how Obama was considered a great Constitutional Law expert until he decided to run as a democrat. But then, ACA was the republican healthcare plan until a few seconds after the democrats decided to go it.

  7. Er…Annie? I think you missed the fact that the “Rep.” in front of Ms. Kirkpatrick’s name is an abbreviation for the word Representative. If the people she represents, who are technically her employers, overwhelmingly disapprove of her position, they have every right to tell her so and demand what they see as a proper course of action.

    Ms. Kirkpatrick also has the right to vote according to her conscience, which is another matter entirely. If this leads her employers to terminate her employment, she has only herself to blame. Letting politicians “do anything they feel like so they can get stuff done” is the definition of tyranny.

    A document designed to preserve and defend the powers and privileges of the One Percenters who wrote it, which conveniently left out 9/10ths of the population at the time and which has been lately used to elevate the needs and desires of major, global corporations (the point zero, zero 1 of 1%) over the needs and desires of 99.999% of the Planet…

  10. I’m just thinking that all the Conservatives who posted on this subject, think they are as qualified as President Obama on what the Constitution “has to say, and the context, of what the Constitution has to say.

    Or maybe they went to the Rush LImbaugh Institute of Law, or the Sean Insantiy College of Constitutional Law.. or maybe even the Tobin prep school of law.

    If he was qualified to teach a subject at the University of Chicago, a pretty damn good school, he knows how to weild the Constitution to get his job done legally.

    Very few of his decisions have been trashed by the Supreme Court.

    I wonder if they think GWB could have done that. I never heard them screaming about the chit Bush Cheney pulled during their administration, but the fact is, they demolished the rights of the average citizen. Where was the Silent Majority then>

    Oh..they were being SILENT.

    And now, they’re out in droves, and have been since November 7, 2007, when President Obama won the election.

    I wish Mr. Tobin the very best, I’m sure he’s going to need it to beat Ms Kirkpatrick, or anyone else.
