There are many faces to Logan Phillips that Tucson has huge love for, from his work with youth in the Tucson Youth Poetry Slam to his love of cumbia and filling the dancefloor as DJ DirtyVerbs. This past year, we’ve been exceptionally blessed to revel in Phillips’ poetry and performance work with Sonoran Strange, a poem cycle performance piece he wrote, and then produced with his creative partner Adam Cooper-Terán. On Friday, Dec. 5, 7:30 p.m., Club Congress, Phillips’ celebrates the “Sonoran Strange” book release with a reading plus music from Joe Novelli and more. There’s a book signing and after party on the plaza at 9 p.m. with DJ Que and of course, DJ DirtyVerbs. Sonoran Strange is available on line at www.dirtyverbs.com/store/sonoran-strange.

  1. Press “More City Week,” and you will see the remaining four we recommend for the week. Typically we pick five each week.
