Through late November, the Etherton Gallery is presenting the works of Jim Waid and Lawrence Gipe with Instars and Casbah Noir. Opening the 2025-2026 season, the exhibit features each artist’s exploration of landscapes, representation and cultural identity. The inclusion of these works speaks to the gallery’s interest in contemporary conversations and the voices of the southwest. Coupled with Alejandro Macias’ “In the Cases,” each of the three artists have deep ties with the University of Arizona School of Art.

Frida’s Garden

Tucson Botanical Gardens’ “Frida’s Garden” Exhibit is dedicated to the iconic visual artist Frida Kahlo. Inspired by Kahlo’s garden in Mexico City, called “La Casa Azul,” the space features a scaled-down version of the Aztec-inspired pyramid and Toad Pond and plant life that honors the original — with some Southwestern additions.

Tucson Holiday Ice

Tucson’s Ice Rink will be available through the entire holiday season in front of the Tucson Convention Center — and is made of real rather than synthetic ice. Purchase of a ticket online includes a pair of rental skates for a 90-minute session. The skate size starts at a size 8 and goes as large as men’s 15. Socks are required for skating and gloves are recommended as well. The skating rink will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas day.

Darlene Love — Love for the Holidays

Darlene Love has been praised for her work as an artist by various critics and big names in music. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 by Bette Midler and has received praise from Paul Shaffer who said “Darlene Love is Rock N’ Roll.” Love will perform at the Fox Tucson Theatre on Nov. 28.

‘Heist’

The Arizona Theatre Company will present its production of “Heist” — inspired by films such as “Ocean’s Eleven,” “The Italian Job” and “The Sting.” A group of professional thieves assemble to steal the world’s rarest jewel in a plan that, while seeming foolproof, goes wrong at every juncture. The end result of the heist keeps the audience guessing after the show has concluded.

Broadway in Tucson — ‘Moulin Rouge’

Taste & Toast the Rain — Rainwater on Tap

Watershed Management Group is hosting its 10th annual Rainwater on Tap Happy Hour on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The event celebrates the rainfall which supports the organization’s education, conservation, and advocacy work. As part of the event, Watershed Management Group has set its Giving Tuesday fundraising goal to $50,000. The drink selection includes Whiskey del Bac and Suncliffe Gin rainwater cocktails, rainwater mocktails and rainwater teas, as well as Dragoon Brewery beer and wine. Various food trucks will also be available for guests to choose from. Purchase of admission includes two drink tickets.

David Huckfelt and Tom Walbank

Folk and blues music artists David Huckfelt and Tom Walbank will perform at the new event venue in Tucson, La Rosa. The two have a 20-year musical relationship and close friendship. Their performance on Dec. 4 will commemorate the release of each musician’s new record — Huckfelt’s “I Was Born, But…” and Walbank’s “In the Details.” The show will also feature various special guests to perform with the headlining artists, including Howe Gelb, Gabriel Sullivan, Winston Watson, Thoger Lund and others.

Suzy Bogguss – A Swingin’ Little Christmas

Suzy Bogguss will perform at The Fox Tucson Theatre as part of the “A Swinging’ Little Christmas” show. The evening of Christmas standards will be paired with holiday tunes and fan-favorite songs from Bogguss’ career, in sing-along style for patrons to engage with. The singer’s career took off in the 90s with her songs “Outbound Plane,” “Someday Soon,” “Letting Go” and “Drive South.”

Jake Shimabukuro – Holidays in Hawaii

Jake Shimabukuro’s upcoming performance at The Fox Tucson Theatre carries the theme of a Hawaiian holiday season. An expert Ukulele player, Shimabukuro will perform traditional and contemporary Christmas favorites, including “We Three Kings,” “O Holy Night,” “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.” Additionally, Shimabukuro’s setlist will include selections from his new album, “Grateful.”
