Watermelon Crawl

The Jesse Colt Band will be performing classic country music at this event for adults ages 21 and up. The Watermelon Crawl — hosted in the Savoy Opera House — features watermelon-themed drinks at a full bar. There is no food at the event, but patrons who go out to dine at Pinnacle Peak can receive $5 off their entree by presenting their receipt or tickets to the Ticket Tailor. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Celebration of All Things

Presidio San Agustín del Tucson Museum will be celebrating the history and cultural heritage of Tucson. The city’s inception date is Aug. 20, 1775. The name Tucson comes from the native O’odham word “S-Cuk Son,” which means “at the base of the black hill.”

Día de los Muertos Exhibit

AUG. 26, ONGOING

Tohono Chul Botanical Gardens will be presenting its Dia de los Muertos Exhibit starting in late August through early November. The display will feature pieces from artists that reflect both traditional and contemporary celebrations of the holiday that have become ingrained in Tucson’s history and cultural heritage. On Aug. 26 and Aug. 28, the exhibit will be accompanied by a Curator Talk with director of arts James Schaub.

Harpist Ben Albertson

Principal harpist of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra Ben Albert-son will perform at Leo Rich Theater. Albertson’s program includes “Impromptu Op. 86” by Gabriel Fauré, “Brain Storms” by Chelsea Komschlies, his arrangement of “Nocturne pour Piano” by Claude Debussy, “Sonata for Harp” by Paul Hindemith and other classical music selections.

Minis and Sip

The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures’ Minis and Sip event is a workshop in which patrons learn how to create miniatures while drinking wine. The piece of art featured at this event is a mini pinball machine. Materials will be provided. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for wine and snack selection.

The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance will be celebrating Labor Day Weekend by hosting a competition for the community’s top mixologists and chefs. Culinary professionals from up to 30 restaurants from Southern Arizona will be serving their best salsa, tacos and tequila cocktails. There will also be live music, artists and lucha libre wrestling for guests to enjoy alongside the food.

Iconic sitcom star Jerry Seinfeld will be performing his newest stand-up routine at Linda Ronstadt Music Hall in Tucson.
