Co-hosts Christopher Boan and Tyler Vondrak return for a Thanksgiving edition of All Bets Are On, handling the sports topics of the week.
Tuesday's episode begins with a breakdown of Saturday's Territorial Cup showdown between Arizona and ASU. Both hosts give their favorite memories of the rivalry game and pick a winner for this year's contest.

The duo also give insight into whether UA coach Kevin Sumlin will return to Tucson next fall and what other Pac-12 coaches might get axed once the season concludes.

Tuesday's show also includes the customary Pac-12 Superlatives segment and Picks of the Dragon for the weekend's non-Pac-12 contests.

Tune in each week for a new episode of the Tucson Weekly's sports podcast.

The Tucson Museum of Art is celebrating the local launch of The Queen Next Door: An Intimate Portrait of Aretha Franklin by photojournalist Linda Solomon. The event features Solomon in person, plus a pop-up photo installation, book signing and conversation with the author.

Solomon wrote and photographed for The Queen Next Door over the course of four decades. The book features more than 200 exclusive photographs, plus a foreword by composer Burt Bacharach and an afterword by Aretha’s niece.

“I met Aretha in 1983. At this time I was a columnist with the Detroit News. I arranged with a producer of a local talk show in Detroit to come down and take one photograph of Aretha,” Solomon says. “I did a column about this first meeting and shortly after I received a message from Aretha inviting me to a private reception with her family at the Mayor’s residence in Detroit . She continued to invite me to private rehearsals with The Rolling Stones, James Brown and others.”

Solomon, a member of the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame, has written and photographed for multiple books. She also founded the Pictures of Hope program, which supports homeless children, including those in Tucson, through the power of photography.

“My book shows Aretha’s realness and the photographs shows how she gave her heart and her soul to everything she did,” Solomon says. “The photographs are intimate, fun and express the heart of an international treasure.”

A Night With Aretha at the Tucson Museum of Art. Tuesday, Dec. 3. 6 to 8 p.m. 140 North Main Avenue. Free. For more information, visit tucsonmuseumofart.org/event/a-night-with-aretha

Wee Winter Wonderland. Don’t ask us why, but there’s something especially charming about holiday scenes—a little girl scooting across the living room on a new scooter Christmas morning, a Georgian dining room decorated for Hannukah, a father and daughter celebrating Kwanzaa—when they’re recreated in miniature. And where better to go for such a fix than the Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures, which is decorated for the holiday season and features more than a dozen holiday-themed displays? Planes, Trains and Automobiles. While there are more Christmas movies than you can shake a candy cane at, Thanksgiving movies are a bit more scarce. Luckily for you, Harkins Theatres is screening one of the most beloved Thanksgiving movies as part of their Tuesday Night Classics series. Reid Park Zoo
Bella the jaguar
There’s a new furry face at the Reid Park Zoo, one with an intense stare and a caramel-tan coat featuring black rosettes.

Bella, a 10-year-old jaguar from the Akron Zoo in Ohio, recently took up residence in Tucson.

“Bella is a curious cat and has investigated everything in her surroundings. She has become comfortable quickly, resting on her back and rolling around playfully, as cats big and small do,” said Sue Tygielski, director of zoo operations, in a statement.

Bella was born in Ohio and was selected by the Association of Zoos and Aquarium’s Species Survival Plan to move to Tucson.

Like many people who move to Arizona from out-of-state, allergies were a factor in this jaguar's move, according to the zoo. Bella has skin allergies, and the hope is that Tucson’s climate will be more comfortable for her. Bella will also serve as an ambassador for her species, raising awareness about the challenges that jaguars are facing in the wild.

Guests can look for Bella in the Zoo's South America loop during visits to the Zoo. As Bella adjusts to her new home, she may spend time between her habitat and behind-the-scenes in her night house.

Bella replaces Simone, a 23-year-old jaguar who passed away in July. Simone was the oldest jaguar at an AZA-accredited zoo, and lived nearly all of her life at Reid Park Zoo. She arrived in Tucson from another zoo when she was just 7 months old. Median life expectancy for jaguars is 18.

Simone was euthanized Friday, July 5 due to age-related health issues. Simone’s sister Nikita passed away in 2017, also due to age-related health concerns.

For years, The Great Cover Up has grown into a Tucson staple, and now some participating bands even dress up in costumes and include stage props along with their cover music. And even better, all proceeds from the event will be donated to a designated nonprofit. (This year’s beneficiary is 91.3 FM KXCI.)
