Gov. Doug Ducey today announced the appointment of U.S. Representative Martha McSally to the United States Senate following the resignation of U.S. Senator Jon Kyl.

“All her life, Martha has put service first — leading in the toughest of fights and at the toughest of times,” said Gov. Ducey, in a release. “She served 26 years in the military; deployed six times to the Middle East and Afghanistan; was the first woman to fly in combat and command a fighter squadron in combat; and she’s represented Southern Arizona in Congress for the past four years.
With her experience and long record of service, Martha is uniquely qualified to step up and fight for Arizona’s interests in the U.S. Senate. I thank her for taking on this significant responsibility and look forward to working with her and Senator-Elect Sinema to get positive things done.”

McSally represents Arizona’s Second Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she serves on the Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees and chairs the Border and Maritime Security Subcommittee.

A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, McSally is a veteran of 26 years, retiring as a full Colonel in 2010. During her military career, she deployed to the Middle East and Afghanistan six times and was the first woman in U.S. history to fly a fighter jet in combat and the first woman to command a fighter squadron.

“Over the last year, I’ve traveled across this great state, meeting with countless Arizonans, and listening to them,” McSally said, in a release. “I’ve heard about the challenges they face and the hopes they have for the future – and I’ve learned a lot. I am humbled and grateful to have this opportunity to serve and be a voice for all Arizonans. I look forward to working with Senator-Elect Kyrsten Sinema and getting to work from day one.”

Governor Ducey appointed Senator Kyl to the Senate in September of 2018, filling the seat vacated by the late Senator John McCain. Senator Kyl’s resignation from the Senate will be effective Dec. 31.

  1. McSally’s Appointment: Governor Ducey Ignores the Will of Arizona Voters!!

The Voters of Arizona have rejected Martha McSally to represent their interests in the US Senate. Notwithstanding, Governor Ducey, acting as a minion of Donald Trump, has rescinded the Electoral Process, the will of the Voters of Arizona, and appointed her to fill the vacancy of Senator John McCain!

A recall Petition for Governor Ducey should be initiated!!

In rejecting her Candidacy for the US Senate, the Voters of Arizona have rejected her Unstinting support for the Political Agenda of Donald Trump!

Martha McSally is a Military Person…and Donald Trump is her Commander and Chief. She is incapable of any Critical Analysis and Independent Judgement on Issues that are Contrary to Trump’s Political Agenda …but….in the Best Interests of the Citizens of Arizona and the Country

Trump to McSally: ….Jump; ……McSally to Trump: …..Yes Sir…How High???

Once again…..A recall Petition for Governor Ducey should be initiated!!

  2. Why are There so many unnecessarily Capitalized words in the Previous post? Is that supposed To make the statements More profound or just Because the writer doesn’t Have a proper grasp Of the english Language?

  3. ” incapable of any Critical Analysis and Independent Judgement “

Seems to be effecting more than just Martha. Yikes!

  4. “BIP”….Have the Courage to post without the anonymity of a Pin Name!!!….and…Pon su cabeza donde no esta brillando el sol…Por Favor

  5. Frances…..You don’t make it through the USAFA, command a fighter squadron amd then rise to the rank of full Colonel without possession of absolutely everything necessary to become a U.S. Senator. Any criticism to the contrary is absolute bovine scatology. From someone who has been there and experienced it first hand.

Frances…..have you been smoking your ganja again?

  6. But being in the Air Force does not neccessarily qualify a person to be a senator. She was missing in action most of the time she was a representative in CD2 in AZ. Ask us.

  7. The Mariyah Binthoras post above is correct. “Landslide” McSally refused to meet with her constituents unless it was a carefully selected group of supporters in a closed setting. It is a fact that she voted with tRump 97% of the time. McSally represented 33% of the people in CD2 and utterly failed to represent the other 66%. I don’t care what she once was in the USAF. I do care that she became a coward and an extremely poor representative of her district. Why should we expect any better of a performance as a senator?

  8. I am in D2 and I saw her often meeting with constituents. I also like the way she worked in DC. She is very competent, even if you don’t agree with her positions.

  9. This could explain McSally’s calm and composed speech and video when she conceded her loss in November; she knew Ducey was going to give her the office anyway for McCain. McSally was Congresswoman for my district and I will never forget the responses she made to my letters – fell in GOP ranks under Trump right down a long line of hypocrites who initially spoke up with courage, and then backed down like little maids and butlers.

Speak up soon Martha, or forever lose your integrity to a man with no conscience, little intelligence, meager decency and the poltical instincts of a reptile. Trump is going to be exposed – in 2019.

  10. Hurrah Martha!! We need more veterans like you in Congress representing the country as well as Arizona. It is easy to say, but I will anyway – Stay out of the swamp, out-maneuver the turkeys, and soar with the eagles and falcons!! There are many of us who have your 6. WEG in Colorado.
