Zoey is currently in the office of one of our staff members. She has eaten, had water and is currently playing with our staff member and puppy toys.
We will only be able to release limited details to our Facebook constituents; we do not want to inadvertently jeopardize this ongoing investigation. The Sheriff’s department will release details as they can.
Thank you all for playing a vital role in Zoey’s return. It is through your participation in the conversation, coverage by local media and the partnership of PACC that Zoey has been found safe and sound. We are grateful to you all.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Community Problems Unit are asking for help in the identification of a thief. The incident occurred on May 26, 2015 at approximately 5:00 PM at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. Here's a peek at the puppy-nappers:
The case involves two young females and the incident was caught on surveillance video. One of the suspects can be seen how she was jumping up against a partition, behind which puppies were being held. In her final attempt, the young woman was able to lean over the partition and grabbed one of the puppies inside the kennel. Taking the dog with them, both females then left the building through an emergency exit. The eight-week-old puppy had already been adopted.
The woman who took the dog from the kennel was described as a Caucasian female, possibly a teenager, with blonde hair, approximately 5’5” tall, and an average build. She was last seen wearing a pink short-sleeve shirt and white cargo pants.
The second woman is within the same age range, approximately same height, thinner build, has brunette hair, and is possibly Hispanic.
Anyone with information on the identity of either of these young women and/or their whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
