As the trailer says, “No human mind could imagine the enormous destructive power of this maddened killing thing,” the title subject of the 1959 film “The Giant Gila Monster,” which you can see tonight at the Loft as part of their Mondo Mondays series. For only $3, you can see a film that makes the most of zoom lenses and a gila monster someone likely found in their yard. But, hey, it might all be worth it just to hear the music, which includes this jam by the Sneaky Petes (which is apparently just Eddie Cochran of “Summertime Blues” fame), entitled “The Gila Monster Crawl”:

  1. Oddly enough, my mother posited that the curved chunk missing from the top of Picacho Peak must have been bitten off by a giant Gila Monster – this observation notwithstanding the fact that she never saw this movie.
