March Radness Preview: Nite Jewel

Posted By on Wed, Mar 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM

March Radness is this Saturday, March 8 (get your tickets now!), so we're going to give you a taste of what to expect from the stellar lineup of bands here on The Range between now and then.

Nite Jewel, the musical nom-de-plume of Los Angeleno Ramona Gonzalez, sounds like the collision of 90's R&B, Italian disco and krautrock, a blend of influences that sounds a lot like dance music, but generally defies actually dancing, but makes you feel really damn cool for listening to it. The pseudonymed aesthetic moves on to her lyrics, cloaking emotion in enigma and mystery. Hell, Nite Jewel was on the soundtrack from recent super-smash video game Grand Theft Auto V. How cool is that?

See her and a bunch of bands (Sir Mix-A-Lot! Pinback! Murs!) on March 8 at March Radness, presented by the Tucson Weekly!
