The eastern California traditional folk band will be performing a free show from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Monterey Court, 505 W. Miracle Mile.

I'm always trying to scope out new bands and sounds and Monterey Court always books world class musicians and bands to play free shows. This looks like a winner and one alternative to the sold out Vampire Weekend show.

The Littlest Birds are a nationally touring cello and banjo duo from the Eastern Sierra of California. Both David Huebner and Sharon Martinson have classical music backgrounds supporting their current foray into Americana roots music. Some years ago you may've seen David on the Disney Channel, twice, as principal cellist of their Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra. Or you may've run into Sharon deep in the forests of the southeast as she studied southern pine beetle ecology for her PhD at Dartmouth College where she also played french horn in their chamber orchestra.
