Royalty Comes to Gila Bend, Probably for the First/Last Time Ever

Posted By on Mon, Oct 17, 2011 at 3:00 PM

Look out ladies of desolate southwest Maricopa County! The prince that's still single is coming to town and he might be looking for snacks and beverages during his stay! .

Sure it's for military training, but Tucson lost out to Gila Bend to get a royal visit? I blame Rio Nuevo.

Decisions, decisions. Where shall Prince Harry rest his head when he arrives in Gila Bend, Ariz., for the second phase of his military training?

So, where should he stay?

"The accommodations on the base are really nice. Each hotel room has its own bathroom area, a flat-screen TV, a refrigerator where they can keep their cold drinks," says Teresa Walker, spokesperson for the base.

Prince Harry, or Captain Wales as he is called in the military, will have to travel off the base if he wants to fill his 'fridge with drinks and snacks.

"There are no services on Gila Bend [Auxiliary Field]. Absolutely none," says Walker. "There's no store. There's no restaurant. There's no gas station. There's no 7-11."
