Mark Kelly: Gabrielle Giffords to Vote for Jonathan Rothschild

Posted By on Mon, Oct 10, 2011 at 12:00 PM

This is probably surprising to no one, but according to a campaign press release, Gabrielle Giffords is planning to vote for Jonathan Rothchild in the forthcoming mayoral election:

According to Commander Mark Kelly, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ husband who retired from the military this month, his wife is “looking forward” to voting for Democratic candidate for Mayor of Tucson Jonathan Rothschild in the upcoming November election.

Commander Kelly made the announcement Sunday at the Arizona Democratic Party’s 2011 Volunteer Awards Night dinner at the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix.

Rothschild, who was unable to attend due to a prior commitment, received the news via Twitter feed “…and I can tell you Gabby is looking forward to receiving [her] Vote By Mail ballot so she can vote for her friend Jonathan Rothschild for Mayor.”

“Congresswoman Giffords is an inspiration and a role model, to the world and to me personally. I have known her since she knocked on my door in her first legislative race and I was immediately won over. I’ve supported her in every campaign since,” said Rothschild. “I am incredibly touched and honored to receive this show of support.”
