Has Breast Cancer Got You Singing the Boobs?

Posted By on Sat, Aug 13, 2011 at 10:36 AM

Almost everyone knows someone who has experienced cancer—and once it happens to you or to someone important in your life, you realize you never really understood the magnitude of the diagnosis before.

This I know now from experience, which is why I want to recommend going to Bumstead's and IBT's tonight (Saturday, Aug. 13) to help Barbara Ann Shuman say goodbye to her boobs before she undergoes a bilateral mastectomy.

The boob-farewell party for Shuman, the owner of Bumsted's, is from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. As one friend told me, considering how Shuman has helped different community organizations over the years, going to support her during this time of her life should be a Tucson requirement.

From the Facebook invite:

Barb's Boobs Going Away Party is on! On August 18 I will undergo a bilateral mastectomy and am throwing a going away party for my boobs. They have served me well! Attracting and trapping my life long mate, best friend and husband Scot and nourishing my amazing daughter Madison who I am so proud of are just a few of the fantastic things my boobs have accomplished. Breast Cancer has dictated that it is time for them to be on their way and I would like to invite all of you to join me in sending them off with a bang! Festivities will begin at Bumsted’s with a boob singing and wet tea shirt contest everyone welcome to participate the winner will be able to say they did not wait until they were 43 and having a mastectomy to say that they where in a wet tea shirt contest! The party will move up the street to IBT’S for Drag Show and dancing! The Fabulous Janee’ Starr will be headlining the Show and dancing will last all night long! Hope to see you there!
