Critter of the Week [Dog Edition]: Amus

Posted By on Tue, Aug 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM

Update: Amus has been adopted! But don't cry, friend; there are many more animals at the HSSAZ that would love a home.

Amus, an 11-month-old shepherd mix, wants you to become a familiar face.

Amazing Amus is a smart and appreciative dog with the joyful innocence of a puppy and the loyalty of an old companion. Although Amus can be a little shy during initial introductions, Amus will eventually curl up right beside you with some gentle coaxing and encouragement. As a current student in Canine College, Amus is learning to be brave around new people, especially children and people in hats, who Amus finds slightly frightening. But, by taking one day at a time, Amus is making terrific progress and now has many people he considers to be his close friends. Amus also has a history with cats and seems to greatly enjoy the company of his kennelmates. If you could offer Amus a comfortable place to call home in exchange for a lifetime supply of pure, uninhibited puppy love, please come down to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and make a deal with Amus soon!

Here's a video of Amus enjoying the sunshine.

Come meet Amus! He's currently living at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd. The Humane Society is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The phone number is 327-6088.
