Politico reports:

Add one more name to the list of Republicans considering a run for Senate in Arizona: former Gov. Fife Symington.

Symington, who served as governor for six years in the 1990s, told POLITICO Thursday afternoon that he considers the Senate an “interesting, fascinating place” and “wouldn’t rule out” a campaign in 2012.

“I’ve had a couple of brief conversations, nothing particularly profound. I think it’s going to be fascinating to see who jumps into the race,” he said.

Symington resigned in 1997 after being convicted of bank fraud, but the ruling was later overturned by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He was later pardoned by President Clinton.

The former governor also suggested another eye-catching candidate for the seat, saying he heard a “rumor that Kurt Warner could be a possibility.”

“He’s a strong conservative and he’s extremely well liked and certainly would have the ability to attract the financial support,” Symington said of the former Arizona Cardinals quarterback.

He predicted: “It’ll be a free-for-all.”
