Speaking of the McCain-Glassman Senate race: Rasmussen shows Glassman is picking up support, with only 51 percent of Arizonans saying they'll vote for McCain at this point:

Republican Senator John McCain still holds a double-digit lead in his bid for reelection in Arizona.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state finds McCain earning 51% of the vote to Democrat Rodney Glassman's 37%, his best showing to date. Seven percent (7%) prefer some other candidate, while six percent (6%) are undecided.

The race remains Solid GOP in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power Rankings.

Late last month, after both men won their respective party primaries, McCain led Glassman 53% to 31%. Prior to that, support for McCain in hypothetical matchups with Glassman ranged from 53% to 57%, while the Democrat picked up 28% to 34% of the vote.

Glassman, a relative political newcomer, faces an uphill battle, given McCain's powers of incumbency and the political mood in a state that already trends strongly Republican.

McCain, a member of the U.S. Senate since 1987, is favored by 80% of Republicans. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of Democrats support Glassman, the former vice mayor of Tucson. Among voters not affiliated with either political party, McCain edges Glassman 41% to 37%.
