The Tucson Police Department reports that a serial burglar is on the prowl in the UA area:
The Tucson Police Department has been investigating a series of six burglaries in the last 30 days that has been confined to residential area surrounding the University of Arizona. The targeted area has been from Speedway Boulevard to Broadway Boulevard, and from Campbell Road to Stone Avenue. Tucson Police Detectives have reasons to believe that the same suspect is responsible for the burglaries and that the crime is sexually motivated. The suspect has targeted single women living alone and made his entry into their homes between the hours of midnight and 4:00 a.m. while the victims have been home and asleep. He has also been very aggressive and has violent tendencies when confronted by the victims.The Tucson Police Department has since increased patrols throughout the area and there is a coordinated effort with the individual detective units in an attempt to identify the suspect. The Department wants to remind the community to lock their doors and windows both during the day and at night. Residents should keep the outside lights on at night and are urged to call 911 when they observe suspicious activity throughout their neighborhoods.
The suspect in the burglaries is described as a Hispanic or White male between the ages of 20-30 years old. He is 5’6”-6’0” and has been described as “skinny.” Anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
