Mission Creeps at Preen for Project Close-Knit

Posted By on Sat, Aug 14, 2010 at 10:26 AM

Just down the street from downtown, at 9 p.m., the Mission Creeps will perform tonight at Preen on Fourth Avenue, between Eighth and Ninth streets, to benefit Project Close-Knit. Suggestion donation is $5.

From the event invite on Project Close-Knit:

It is a service project that brings fiber artists together with local outreach organizations, to provide hats and scarves for some of Tucson's needy residents. Artists pledge to create a number of pieces before Oct. 2010. The volunteers are supplied with all the material they need to complete their pledge. Thus, they are donating their skill and time, not their money. The finished pieces will be divided between the organizations according to how many people they assist in an average winter.

The project works with Food Not Bombs, Wingspan (Eon Youth Lounge), No More Deaths, Our Family Services (Teens-N-Transition) and Open Inn.
