Paton Hit By Conservatives for Congress Committee

Posted By on Wed, Aug 11, 2010 at 12:13 PM

We mentioned yesterday that the Conservatives for Congress Committee had released a poll showing Republican Jesse Kelly with a big lead over former state lawmaker Jonathan Paton in the GOP primary race that will decide which Republican faces Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

The Paton campaign has complained that the poll can't be trusted because the Conservatives for Congress Committee wants to see Kelly win.

Here's some evidence in favor of that argument: The Conservatives for Congress Committee is running a radio ad that hammers Paton for "shamefully hitting a fellow Republican below the belt" because he's been picking on Kelly. It also reminds listeners that Paton lost to Giffords in a race for the House of Representatives in 2000.

Listen to the ad here.
