ASU Can't Afford the Word "The"

Here's one more reason ASU stands for Arizona's Second University: It leaves out words on its promotional billboards.

From KOLD:

The billboards are part of a campaign proclaiming that Arizona State University is one of the world's top schools.

The only problem is that they left out a key part of the message. The sign reads "One of top 100 universities in the world." It is missing the word "the."

A university spokesperson said it was intentional and that the shorter advertising message was meant to grab a driver's attention.

However, when asked why some of the billboards were changed, she said the sign was the wrong color.

The school's online version of the logo includes the word "the".

Maybe this paves the way for the Derek Zoolander ASU Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too.
