Pima County Supervisor Ally Miller has taken to Facebook to express her criticism of the idea that some Republicans are concerned that real estate tycoon Trump is hurting the GOP’s chances of retaking the White House.
Miller posed a simple question: “Again…doesn’t the constitution read: “of the people, By the people, for the people.”
Guess somebody didn’t watch enough Schoolhouse Rock as a kid. No worries, Ally: The world will little note, nor long remember, what you say on Facebook.

A gaffe to be sure but Lincoln might understand her point: that backroom deals by party hacks denying a candidate’s nomination for the presidency despite the wishes of the voters, smacks of something other than clean electoral politics. Then again, Lincoln would more than likely disassociate himself from today’s Republican Party running in horror from any of the candidates currently vying for the party’s nomination.
Less of a gaffe than a demonstration that her knowledge base about U.S. government and history is shallow, superficial and based on myth rather than reality.
Why is it we never see criticism when comments put the separation clause in the USC?
Lincoln would be run out of today’s Republican Party. Federal government overreach. Rejected State’s rights. Took away the Southern states property rights. Suspended habeas corpus. Overtaxed the wealthy. Too friendly to minorities.
You’re right Frances. And so would “Amnesty Reagan” and “Socialized Medicine Nixon.” Maybe Goldwater in his prime but then again as a candidate he was the McGovern of conservative electoral politics.
