A hundred people gathered outside the Planned Parenthood office in Tucson as part of the national PinkOut Day Tuesday, Sept. 29. According to Jodi Liggett, Vice President for Public Affairs for Planned Parenthood Arizona, this was one of four events in Tucson and 15 events around Arizona. Clinics offered free STD testing for anyone who came in.

Among the speakers at the event was Bryan Howard, President & CEO Planned Parenthood Arizona. He said, “The challenge for our critics is that their criticisms don’t reflect what we do every day. This year we had 35,000 patients in Arizona. Those are 35,00 people who know why we exist.” He continued, “Planned Parenthood isn’t going anywhere. We will continue to be a resource for young people and women and families across Arizona.”

City Council member Regina Romero spoke as well. She talked about the importance of family planning in her own life and said, “We must be unapologetic about the right of every woman to decide whether or not to have a family and to plan their own family. Women must have a choice.”

  1. If they were not an abortion mill why not just drop abortion from their services and keep all the other medical services they do? If they really cared about women they would do that and offer mammograms.

  2. Did they pass out swag bags? A little finger for you, maybe a pair of lungs, or how about a heart shaped pendant, made from a real, formerly beating, baby heart?

  3. They don’t even offer mammograms, Mike. They are not licensed radiologists. They refer patients to radiology labs. It’s all about the chop shop.

  4. Ah, yes, comments by people that have no need for the services provided by Planned Parenthood, don’t know anyone who uses Planned Parenthood for reproductive health services, nor any idea of what really happens there.

  5. It appears that PP doesn’t know what happens there…but now we do. They claimed that they did mammograms and they never have.

I don’t want to fund it. These leftist programs need to be defunded and give Americans their money back. Seven years of a lying socialist and I hope Americans have had enough.

  6. Debbie, Planned Parenthood has never claimed to provide mammograms, though other people mistakenly believe they offer them. Just like most other providers of gynecological services, they refer patients to radiologists for mammograms.

Yes, “these leftist programs,” originally signed into law by that infamous communist Richard M. Nixon. The Title X program helps everyone have access to vital family-planning services, which, by the way, reduce unintended pregnancies and the demand for abortion. If you’re against abortion, you should be thrilled that there are programs out there that help everyone access reliable contraception — and you should be rallying for even more access, so women don’t have to travel unreasonable distances to access them, and can choose ultra-effective and long-lasting contraceptives such as the implant. Besides, investment in family planning saves tax dollars down the road. These programs make good fiscal sense.
