Get your bags of tea ready, folks: you only have little more than a month to see “Wildman” Ted Nugent at the Fox Theatre.

I mean, if you’re into people who have staved off declining relevance as musicians by revealing themselves to be wildly, insanely, vehemently right-wing.

Let’s be honest: At this point, the Nuge is famous as much for his insistence on making then-candidate Obama fellate his gun-dick as he is Cat Scratch Fever — and I’m not sure that’s something you want to hang the hat of your career on.

But hey, when you get the chance to bring aboard a musician who’s willing to blast fellow music legend Stevie Wonder over his political beliefs (Wonder has decided to boycott Florida venues in the wake of the George Zimmerman self-defense trial), well, I can’t see how you can pass that up:

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he said. “So 700 black people, mostly young children and young people were slaughtered in Chicago last year by black people, and not a peep out of Stevie Wonder. Are you kidding me? What is this, ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’? How brain-dead do you have to be? How strangled by denial, how dishonest, how cheap do you have to be to focus on a clear-cut case where all the evidence, from the DOJ, from the FBI, from the army of investigative specialists in Florida determined that George Zimmerman acted in self-defense against a life-threatening attack by hoodlum, dope-smoking Trayvon Martin?”

Nugent also said that he would pray for “Stevie Wonder and all these other numnuts who think that Trayvon Martin’s life is more important than the tens of thousands of slaughtered blacks at the hands of blacks.”

Well, now isn’t that a reframing of the argument — if we’re going to go that way Ted, why are you defending the self-defense rights of George Zimmerman, who admitted to killing a guy in self-defense, while ignoring the fact that a Florida woman had her Stand Your Ground defense denied and was sentenced to 20 years?

  1. Outstanding idea myself and family can’t wait to see an American patriot that is a great entertainer. Insanely? For the Constitution, like 1st, 2nd, 4th and more wildly for you and your neighbors, keeping your job instead of you or your neighbor not having a job due to an Illegal alien. Please notice illegal is not the same as legal. Legal aliens Ted and I welcome because we have equal rights. Illegal aliens are law breakers that use up limited resources that legal immigrants and citizens could get but may not because of the number of illegal aliens receiving those benefits. Vehemently opposed to left wing stupidity that “claims” they are for the lowly, the poor, the less fortunate, and do nothing for them but talk, if they had to walk the walk they would trip and fall, Example Chicago and Detroit, what has the left done for the minorities and those struggling in either of those cities? Regarding the Obama/Ted issue, look up or Google Larry Sinclair. Personally this president and the Democratic party is not anything to hang your hat, socks, or coat on either. David in the real world, the Jury found Zimmerman innocent, the evidence and the experts analyzing the evidence found George innocent, but you were there in his case and the other one where the Florida woman’s “Stand your ground defense” was denied. They were not the same and the evidence was not the same! Please feel free to educate yourself before you go on your clueless rants.

  2. It’s acceptable for the liberal press to badger, malign, and name call, but where is the outrage at the administration for sitting on their ass and doing nothing about the sorry state of affairs (besides blaming everyone else, vacationing, throwing lavish White House parties, and golfing at our expense) in this nation? I’ll support someone that speaks the truth, instead of some narcissist that will continue to treat this nation as his kingdom.

  3. TN an overly egotistical, irrelevant nut-job with delusions of just about every kind. He’s a disgrace as a human being. It’s a damn shame his senility and egocentricity is going to completely overshadow what was a pretty decent career as a musician.

  4. “He’s a disgrace as a human being” ? Yet the loser in the White House is destroying our country, pays no attention to the Constitution, has more scandals then the last two Presidents combined and voted 3 times in the Ill State Senate that if a baby lived through an abortion do not provide support, let the baby die, And he is not a disgrace? With fellow Americans voting for people like that and not being bothered by his inability to manage, govern or carry a moral compass is pathetic.

  5. markus_jim, you do realize that you could be throwing shade at literally every other head of state who has done the exact same thing throughout this country’s history, right? Astoundingly, Obama isn’t the first president to have ever gone golfing or taken a vacation.

Matthew Ribarch, I didn’t offer an opinion on the Zimmerman trial. He was found innocent of murder according to Florida law. Sure, he killed a teenager, but there’s nothing more to be said about whether or not he broke the law (again, according to the letter of the law). The Florida woman was attempting to exercise her right to protect herself with a weapon and had her defense thrown out — anyone who supposedly defends one’s right to self-defense via Stand Your Ground legislation should probably consider defending this woman. After all, it was her right to protect herself against a physical aggressor who has attacked her before, isn’t it?

  6. Tea party types are to cheap to come out for a overpriced has-been like Nugent…my guess is the Casino said no

  7. Something Mr. Mendez neglected to mention is the fact that the woman, Marissa Alexander of Jacksonville, FL, is black. Since Trayvon Martin apparently had no right to stand his ground against an aggressive white man who pursued him against police advice, why should a court conclude a battered black woman has any right to stand her ground against her troglodyte of a spouse? Like Richard Pryor once said, if you go looking to the court system for justice, all you’ll find is “just us”.

  8. In Arizona the rich can afford justice, and the poor cannot escape it. Private prisons are our growth industry and somehow they set their own rules. At least Ted can entertain us while we endure the injustice system and dream of having a fair oversight committee.

  9. Gotta wonder if he has anything interesting to say, anymore. Still sleazy after all these years?
    Does he still sing?

  10. Wow, what a FABULOUS show! You losers can sit there and whine all you want about his politics. SOME of us went to hear the music — AND agree with his politics! We are STILL talking about the kick-ass rock ‘n roll. It was fantastic!!!
