Russell Pearce’s reign as Senate President is over, for now, at least, with the Arizona Republic reporting that Pearce has essentially conceded to Jerry Lewis:

Pearce shortly after 9 p.m. said at a news conference outside a campaign supporter’s home that “Numbers aren’t going my way and I am OK with that.”

“If being recalled means keeping your promises, then so be it,” Pearce said as he stood surrounded by supporters and friends.

Russell Pearce 6427 votes / 45.36%

Jerry Lewis 7555 votes / 53.4%
