Lawyers were unable to track down the parents of 545 children removed from their families through the Trump administration’s family separation policy, according to a news release from Rep. Raúl Grijalva’s office.
When former Attorney General Jeff Session announced the administration’s “zero-tolerance policy” in April 2018, migrant children were separated from their parents instead of held with them in detention centers.
When the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a class-action lawsuit against the Trump administration, a federal court order halted the separate detention of children and their parents in June 2018 and ordered the government to reunite children with their families.
According to Grijalva’s news release, lawyers from the ACLU and other pro-bono law firms haven’t been able to find parents separated from 545 children at the border.
“They were ripped from their parents’ arms, off-handedly placed in shelters, and left to wonder when, if ever, they would see their parents again. Due to the cruelty of Donald Trump and the xenophobia of Stephen Miller, we know that some of them may never see their parents again,” Grijalva said in the release.
“The Trump Administration must undertake every effort to reunite the families they so willingly destroyed, and every official complicit in this tragedy must face consequences for their actions. Human rights abuses should never be the foundations of government policy.”

Many of these children weren’t with their parents anyway. They were “rent-a-kid-to-sneak-across-the-border.” Their parents are in Mexico counting the money.
I agree, their parents should be located and prosecuted for child endangerment and CPS should remove them from their homes officially.

If you follow the updates you see that hundred of supposed parents are not coming forward. What kind of parents would do that to their children in a foreign country? Conjecture is what we have trying to make one side out to be the bad guy in an election year. The crimes look much bigger than that.
The original “crime” was to believe in & act on the morally bankrupt policy in the first place.
It was wrong to separate these children from their parents. And the people defending it are mostly the same ones who would happily force a woman to carry an unwanted… or risky pregnancy… because they are “pro-life”. Hypocrisy of the right.
It was nice to hear the president use the same argument tonight that I used earlier about “the kids ripped from their parents’ arms” to paraphrase Dementia Joe’s hyperbola.

And there is a huge difference between “an unwanted pregnancy” and a risky pregnancy.
I have no issue with terminating a pregnancy that risks the mother’s life or is the result of rape or incest. But when it comes from the woman being guilty of believing, “I’ll pull out in time, Baby, honest” I’m not going for it.
Additionally, many of the parents were contacted and declined to have their kids sent back because they are better off here than in Mexico or Central America.
