According to azcentral.com, an ASU student was left in the lobby of a hospital with a sticky note reading that he had been in a drinking competition.
Apparently, the 19-year-old was found in the emergency room lobby of St. Luke’s Hospital in Phoenix, where the note read that he needed help — and given how much he drank that night, “help” is an understatement.
According to Tempe Police, the student drank 20 shots that evening, winding up with a blood-alcohol content level of .47% — keeping in mind that the legal limit is .08%, of course.
The student seems to be recovering, though apparently charges can be brought against the student’s friends for abandoning him at a hospital.

with “friends” like that, he won’t need enemies.
Thank God they took him to the hospital! Too many times we hear the stories where the companions fail to do anything for “fear of getting in trouble” and the over-imbiber dies.
Completely agree with Laura. While they may have seen “The Hangover” too many times, at least they got him help instead of leaving him to die, especially with that BAC. I’d add that charging his friends will only make kids more reluctant to even seek help for friends who need it. As a society, we don’t seem to have issues with creating safe haven policies for unwanted babies. I think this is along that line of thinking. It’s more sad that these kids were so scared of the consequences of getting caught that they felt the need to abandon him in the first place.
Charging this boy’s friends with anything would be a very stupid move. While they obviously didn’t want to make themselves known, they had the presence of mind to save his life by leaving him where he could be cared for by those who had the ability to save him. He should be forever grateful for those friends, and so should the authorities.
Good thing he’s male. If he had been female there would have been a rape and some good old fashioned victim-blaming for getting too drunk. Instead, he gets taken to a hospital. He should consider himself lucky.
Wait just a minute!!!!! I’m sure no one forced this immature a-hole to drink that much! What about HIS charges for MIC?!?! What about taking responsibility for one’s actions?? He is the ‘smart guy’ who decided to drink that much. I mean, cheers (pun intended) to his friends for at least realizing that their buddy needed medical care, but, really? If you are old enough to be out of mommy and daddy’s care and going to college like a big boy, you should be old enough to realize that there are consequences, for crying out loud!
