Listen, I understand that people are terrible drivers. We seem to be surrounded by them, even if somehow we’re the one person who understands the rules of the road at any given time. As my son will remind nearly anyone he talks to (sigh), I’m not above giving someone the finger, but next time, I’ll take a deep breath, try to calm down, and not flip my car while “flipping the bird”:

A woman caused an accident SR 512 on Monday when she lost control of her vehicle as she was giving another driver “the bird,” the Washington State Patrol said.

The 23-year-old woman, driving a 2004 Taurus, was traveling eastbound next to a Subaru Outback, the State Patrol said.

She wanted to get over to the right lane, but it was occupied so she flipped off the driver of the Outback. As she was doing so she lost control of her vehicle and hit the back end of the Outback, causing it to run off the road and roll over. She ended up in a ditch further down the roadway.

The editor of the Tucson Weekly. I have no idea how I got here.

  1. while being given a ride to my home just outside of Tucson to pick up my motorcycle, by my girlfriend and her daughter, the daughter driving, I was shocked when the girl did something I’d love to force someone off the road, drag them out of their vehicle and beat the crap out of them for. That was, she was going the speed limit, but since in most cases we are allowed up to 11 miles over before a cop normally gives a citation here, many people take advantage of that. As the car behind her began to take advantage and try and pass, she speeded up like the little bully that she is. I let her know I didn’t like it but she’s another child that was raised by a liberal mom who failed with her time outs and Ritilin. A few weeks earlier I was coming out of Tucson and going probably 15 mph over the 65 mph speed limit and this car came up behind me. I dind’t want to push it anymore and have a State Patrol pop out from behind something and zap me so I just maintained that 75-78 and looking to move right as soon as I could, but that wasn’t good enough for the biotch behind me. Crazy thing is that just up the way she way all the way to the right to get off BUT before she did she held up this sign that was about 18×20 with big bold letters, MORON. If you’re reading this and you want to try that, be ready for the consequences because there are people like me who will track you down and make you eat the damn thing and accept all consequences that await me if it means I get to teach you a lesson.

  2. Maybe it’s late and I’m tired, but I got nothing out of that block of text in the comment before mine other than… liberals naturally raise bad drivers? Ok…

Anyway, I do wish people would calm down, take it slowly, be zen with their fellow drivers. Nothing that happens out there on the road is worth dying or killing for. It seems every day I read about someone killed in a head on/roll-over/road rage incident, and Tucson is by far the worst place I’ve been in for road safety. It seems to me speed is the biggest culprit.

  3. People actually believe that they have a ‘right’ to drive. Nothing is further from the truth. The ‘right’ to drive is a PRIVELAGE. Got that? No where in the Constitution does it say that you have a ‘right’ to drive. People take this basic everyday thing for granted and just abuse the hell out of it. They should have mandatory written driving tests once a year. I would bet $1 millions dollars that most people would horribly fail it.

  4. It ain’t speed but rather the lack of it…if you pokey peeps would do your parking in the slow lane, things would flow a lot better. If you ain’t gonna pass nothing but gas, stay the f out of the middle lane of SPEEDway. You can gaze at the palm tree just as well from the right lane.

  5. first off, both of the previous drivers/ conservatives however political view inflect into our driving habits I am uncertiain. More likely it is the level of education of both of you which causes the reteric spewing from your incontinent pie holes.
Second; both of you think you are the perfect and most knowledgable driver on the roads of Tucson. “drivers who take advantage of the 11 mph” “speed is the biggest culprit” I would bet the farm and kids that niether of these to jack ass’s can tell me the correct color of a Yield sign much less how to use it. I am a trained professional race driver who recently had to pass a drivers safety because of a BS 1 mph violation on photo enforcement, more importantly I passed with 100% on my test.
Oh and note to mr “there are people like me who will track you down and make you eat the damn thing” While I don’t think the sign is appropiete either. You’d not only get you A$$ kicked by me, but likely shot after I ran your ass off the road.
Tucson is one of the most Unsafe places to drive for several reasons, the impatients of other drivers is the least of the reasons why.
A: careless and oblivious driving… what ever they are doing or where ever they are going is FAR more important than the safety of others.
B: crazy stupid, thinking they are invincable in their car or truck. I was in line first and I think you should have to stay behind me or I will reclessly endanger you and your kids or the other people around us just so I can swirve at you and hold up traffic cause I think that 40mph is fast enough. (me) hold still and wait for the flash asshole.
C: careless of or miss informed of the rules of the road or edicate there of. I witnessed a man in his jeep who clearly did not think he could wait to make a legal u turn to get into chewies bar for his next beer, or miss a play of the game. So he made almost a complete u turn on the RED light and just as the light turned green (though 10 seconds more I think he would have run the red) proceeded to cut off the oncoming 4 lanes including the turn north from 22nd to get to the beer. Now if that is not wreckless endangerment of the most highest order I don’t know what is. I personally think that every person who was in a vehicle durring that event should be allowed a crotch kick to his ass. and his pretty little POS jeep should be shredded infront of him and video’s played 24/7 of it while he rotts in jail.
More drivers here need better education on the operation of a motor vehicle and the rules of the road. All of US need to think about the safety of Our Families and those around us families. Even if a mistake is made, lets alltake the effort to make everyone safer today and tomarrow.

  6. I don’t appreciate spongebob stealing Peter Griffen’s schtick

In any event i would like to see MVD have people over the age of 65 tested annually on their ability to drive. I can not even begin to tell you all the scary scenarios I have witnessed at the hands of completely demented elderly behind the wheel.
