Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords tells us that 1,200 National Guard troops will be deployed on the Arizona-Mexico border:


U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords today is announcing that the White House has finally agreed to her repeated requests to deploy National Guard troops to the U.S. border with Mexico.

“The White House is doing the right thing,” said Giffords, who called for the Guard’s deployment immediately after the March 27 murder of Cochise County rancher Rob Krentz. “Arizona(n)’s know that more boots on the ground means a safer and more secure border. Washington heard our message.”

Later today, President Obama will authorize the deployment of up to 1,200 National Guard troops to southwest border. He also will request that $500 million be included in

supplemental spending legislation for enhanced border protection and law enforcement activities.

Giffords wrote to Senators Jon Kyl and John McCain yesterday asking that they stand up for border security and include additional funding in the war supplemental bill making its way through the senate this week.

“The fulfillment of my request is a clear sign that this administration is beginning to take border security seriously,” said Giffords.

If the President is serious about defending our borders the United States has 35,000+ troops in Korea who would be better utilized Securing our National Borders from the ILLEGALS, the growing lawlessness, and civil war in mexico instead of functioning as a “trip wire” he will never respond other than more talk.

  3. You’re kidding, right. Giffords, who’s been a giant HOLE IN THE WIND wants credit for getting the troops to the border. Where was Giffords for the past month? Anybody? Have you heard ONE WORD out of her mouth while we’re being vilified, criticized, called racist, and BOYCOTTED?

    Nada, zip, zilch!

    Show me one story in which she criticized Grijalva for calling for a BOYCOTT of AZ over our law. Show me where she stood up to him and said we need border security, we need troops, we need to get control of illegal immigration here.

    Gov Brewer took a tough stand and forced Obama to send troops here and now Giffords tries to take credit for it. Obama caved and is finally doing his job so now Giffords is the queen of border security?

    I don’t think so.
