While the Guv was giving her State of the State yesterday, Monday, Jan. 14, Randy Parraz’s group, Citizens for a Better Arizona, showed up to demand the state allow DREAMers to received their driver’s licenses.

From Voxxi:

“If they’re good enough to graduate from our high schools, if they are good enough to graduate from our universities, then they are good enough to apply for a driver’s license,” he said of dreamers who are granted deferred action.

Parraz was among the nearly 200 people—among them were dozens of dreamers—who crowded the Arizona State Capitol on Monday. They entered the House chamber hoping to deliver a letter to Brewer. The letter asks the governor to reverse her policy on driver’s licenses for dreamers who have been granted deferred action. It was signed by Congressman Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and several Latino state lawmakers.

The group wasn’t able to meet with the governor and was asked by police officers to leave the building after chanting phrases like, “Let the dreamers drive.” Three people were arrested for refusing to leave. Those individuals arrested are Saul Solis, Chimene Hawes and Sheila Ryan—all three are members of Citizens for a Better Arizona.

  1. “Dreamers” . . . . what a great new euphemism for “illegal aliens.” Fantastic public relations coup.

  2. AS SOON AS they repay the State of Arizona for their EDUCATION, FOOD STAMPS (THE FEDS), and every other Service theyve STOLEN – they can have an I.D. Otherwise, theyre just thieves DREAMING of getting away with it.

  3. Why are the politicians ignorig their oaths of office and pandering to llegal aliens over American citizens? These people are breaking the law, and know it. We as a nation have the right to our security however a former govornerof this state has also turned a blind eye to the security problem along our border, remember what Nappy publicaly stated, “Our borders are more secure now, than ever before”. We owe illegal aliens nothing, but deportation. Politicians, start heeding your Oath of Office to uphold the laws of this nation, and defend the Constutition of these united States.

  4. While I’m at it, I keep wondering if our marvelous guv, Jan, realizes how her insistence that the border is “not secure” has been so severely damaging Arizona’s economy.

My evidence is purely anecdotal, but as one that frequently drives into Mexico, I can tell you I’ve been meeting more and more of my Mexican friends there, that have been taking fewer and fewer legal trips up to Tucson and beyond to shop.

Because, they tell me, they have been feeling less and less welcomed.

    Way to go, Guv!

  5. Riorican, I am a Native American, my family have been here for centuries you? I do clean up the garbage left by illegal aliens and their liberal crybaby supporters. And icecld, I do have a red neck, it comes from my native skin. Immature comment by the way. Why do you idiots think these criminals deserve special treatment? Do you think Mexico treats their illegl aliens in a “humame” manner. Grow the hell up, and demand that the politicians enforce the immigration laws on the books.

  6. A country of laws and a third world country cannot co-exist. Either we enforce our laws or we become a third world country like Mexico. Seems to me that the model of Mexico is not the way I wish our country to go. People like Grijalva pander to these people because it allows him to stay in office and undermine the U.S. Constitution. Time to say NO!

  7. What a shame this is. The governor is wrong in her decision, these people are here through no fault of their own, some with work visas, green cards. What about the people from China, Japan, England, Spain you name it. Do you think their all here legally? Or is this just about Mexicans? The hatred must stop.

  8. Hola, Fred Vanley.

May I ask when’s the last time you took a drive south of the border to Hermosillo?

Last time I was there, I discovered a booming city. Mostly due to the $2-billion Ford Motor plant, there, that builds the highly rated Ford Fusion.

Like it or not, Fred, it seems to me that what we’re really trying to figure out, here, is the global economy.

(Unlike my neighbor, the owner of a new Mexican-made Fusion who was really pissed off when he when he learned that my car is a Honda, which was built entirely in Alabama, USA.)

Yep, Fred, we are really living in a global economy, aren’t we?

Seems so to me, when on this very morning during a valley walk with my dog, I counted 85 boxcars heading north on the Union Pacific RR tracks heading north.

Each boxcar containing 18 Mexican-built Ford Fusions for a total of 1,512 Fusions.

From my point of view, Fred, the more Mexico benefits from the Global Economy, the less likely it is that I’ll be rescuing a migrant from freezing to death here in Rio Rico.

  9. Crossing the border without paperwork or staying beyond the limits of a visa, what is being referred to as illegal immigration is only a misdemeanor crime. Yes, a misdemeanor, much like speeding. How many times have you traveled over the speed limit? Have you ever jay-walked? You are breaking the law just the same as an “illegal immigrant”. The people who are working, paying taxes (most illegal immigrants pay federal and state income taxes, look it up! close to all pay sales taxes and indirect property taxes) and those trying to get educations should be integrated into the legal framework of immigration or citizenship and not shunned.

Together, we can build a better nation; stronger and better able to face the challenges that tomorrow will bring. Without this cooperation and willingness to work together, we will sink into the swampy bogs of history where all other fallen empires rest for eternity.

  10. Randy, and the Dreamers keep going forward, these bigot politicians in place are just insecure and all have dirty secrets to hide and are the ones committing the crimes. The sheriffs all drink, wear their birthday suits, drive drunk and let their own people speed, do drugs, and commit crimes. They are just power freaks with no standards but their own agenda and think only about themself. They have no respect even for who they are, if they did, they would not have to disrespect the command and chief in public when they meet him no matter what party affliation he is. It seems to me it all about the color of your skin, they are all bigots, racists, politicians. Keep going Randy and the dreamers. They will all be soon revealed, in their birthdaysuits, just like Sheriff Babeu, and today his birthday-how sweet. He is already saluting you, not with his hands though!!!!
