In her latest TV ad, Republican Martha McSally, who is challenging Congressman Ron Barber in Tuesday’s election, doubles down on her recent claim to the real heir to Gabby Giffords, as well as former congressmen Mo Udall and Jim Kolbe.
The response from Gabby, her husband Mark Kelly, and Udall’s son, U.S. Sen. Mark Udall, via the Barber campaign:
In response to an ad released by Martha McSally’s campaign stating that McSally “leads” in the footsteps of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and Senator Mo Udall, today Giffords, her husband Captain Mark Kelly U.S. Navy (ret.), and Senator Mark Udall issued the following statements:
“I’m proud to vote for my friend Ron Barber,” said former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. “Born and raised here, I know Southern Arizona values when I see them. Ron Barber is the best choice to represent us in Congress.”
“There is a clear difference between Ron and Martha McSally. Ron shares Gabby’s values — standing up for middle class families, protecting Medicare and Social Security, and protecting a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions,” said Captain Mark Kelly, U.S. Navy (ret.). ”Martha McSally does not share Gabby’s values.”
“My father represented Southern Arizona proudly for 30 years. He worked to support the whole community — from the ranchers to the veterans to each and every family—whether they voted for him or not. And in his short time in Congress, Ron Barber has done the same, rolling up his sleeves to work on behalf of all of his constituents,” said U.S. Senator Mark Udall. “Martha McSally would take us in the wrong direction. Any claim that she is part of my father’s legacy is simply wrong.”

Gabby never made any sense and she continues to show bad judgement. Go McSally, put an end to this Gabby farce.

Gabby is a fine lady and person but we don’t need Ron Barber in Washington, there’s enough egg sucking liberals there. Vote for & elect McSally a person who proudly wore the red, white, & blue for the US of A.
Point is, McSally is out of line. She should not be comparing herself to Giffords or Udall. She is nothing like them and they, or their family, have every right to say so.
Whomever you vote for, remember- you get what / who you vote for. So if the economy is sucking wind 4 years from now, be preparred to have it thrown in your face.
Martha McSally, madam, you are NO Gabrielle Giffords. You might have championed women’s rights on the flight line, but you can just stay the hell out of my vagina.

Regarding WWII veterans of Tucson, and Bisbee. I attempted to gain support from the office of Congresswoman Giffords to no avail. I attempted to do the same with the office of Congressman Barber to no avail.
I am referring to veterans of Bataan and Corregidor who are being denied full recognition towards combat service according to specific guidelines. Such injustice is not acceptable.
Why would I want to vote for someone like McSally? She has no concept of what my life is like….she has her retirement, her medical and dental for life so how can she stand there and say she ‘understands’. Bull! And how dare her compare herself to Mo Udall or Gabby Giffords; she can’t hold a candle to either one of them. At least they were born in Arizona……
What arrogance Martha McSally displays. Comparing herself to those who were way more involved in their community before, during & after their terms is like comparing sparklers to nuclear warheads. Get a clue McSally and take your Alice Cooper looking-ass to a place where people might actually fall for this verbal diarrhea.
