This shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, but the men and women in blue have it rough. Most of a police officer’s life is behind a desk, contrary to what you might believe or see in the movies. The Federal Bureau of Investigations have found that 8 out of 10 officers are over weight, according to CBS Dallas Fort Worth.
From CBS:
Bryan said he spends most of his time at work behind a desk, but still hits the departments on-site gym three days a week.Researchers have said law enforcement personnel are 25 times more likely to die from weight related cardiovascular disease than the actions of a criminal.
“When you’re in a life or death struggle, you’ve got to win that fight, said Bryan about the importance of keeping fit.
But an estimated 80 percent of law enforcement officers are overweight, according to the FBI.

Nothing worse than seeing a fat cop, especially a fat woman cop. They get no respect from me and TPD are the worst of the worst. Totally inept, lazy and lacking in professionalism. I blame the chief of the police for the sad state of affairs here in Tucson. I was involved in a hit and run a month ago and I got the license plate number of the guy that hit me and took off. TPD still haven’t done anything about it, stating that they had other priorities. They deserve no respect from the citizens of Tucson.
Just because you didn’t get instant results doesn’t mean they are not working on it. I had an incident happen and it took them a while before they contacted me about it. I have to disagree with you on they deserve no respect from the citizens. Did you know that they are short police officers and the town council will not let them do their jobs like they should? Did you also know that when a police officer leaves for work that there is always a chance they may not ever go home again? I have family and friends that are police officers and they should be respected at all times.
They sure did have other priorities Kevin….like pulling me over…..to tell me my windshield is unsafe with the crack in it. I must now replace it, saving the lives of many people I’m sure. Thank goodness for TPD!
Henry B. are you overweight? And..how overweight are the FBI agents? Another, yet another probing insightful article.
Cut back on the doughnuts?
