Tonight on Arizona Illustrated’s Political Roundtable: Republican strategist Amilyn Gordon joins Pima County Democratic Party chairman Jeff Rogers and Tucson Tea Party founder Trent Humphries to talk about the latest legal twists for SB 1070, Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s hunt for Obama’s birth certificate (and his ongoing racial-profiling lawsuit), the battle for abortion rights in Arizona, the impact of Rosemont Mine on local county races and more.

  1. I think this speaks volumes. The Pima County Democratic Party Chair basically endorses 15 year incumbent, Ray Carroll…..

  2. Jeff Rogers is ignorant and does not understand how police officers conduct a traffic stop. If a US citizen get detained during a traffic stop and does not have their license on their person. The officer will get their name and birth date. Then run it through their record system. If the person has a license on record, that information will show up on their computer. A illegal alien will not have their name in that system, which then the officer can detain the person even further.

Plus the Supreme Court did not rule out if the suspect does not speak English for a factor in developing reasonable suspicion. Speaking a different language is not the same as using a person ethnicity or race as a factor for reasonable suspicion.

Plus Rogers make a vague statement that most Arizona police agencies do not support this bill and does not give ONE name to back that claim up. There is nothing wrong with SB 1070 and I trust officers to be able to enforce this law justly like they do with other laws. Saying that is law is “racist” and police officers will not be able to enforce it. Is basically saying that the our federal immigration laws are “racist” and Border Patrol Agents are not justly enforcing immigration laws.

  3. Amilyn Gordon is nothing but a talking point memo. She added nothing significant to the discussion. Dud. Don’t ask her back, Jim.

  4. Trent Humphries? Trent Humphries? TRENT HUMPHRIES???

He doesn’t even “represent” both factions of the tea-baggers in this town.

Oh, I know you’ll get a predictable, Obama-hating, libertarian gush of swill from him every time — very predictable — he “represents” at best the non-thinking right-wing elite 2% of Tucson’s voters…

But basically, he’s a waste of good airtime…

If you’ve heard this Mormon once who has Socialism within his cult group and literally LOATHS the concept of having to pay taxes to help the Gentiles (let them “help themselves”), you’ve heard all he has to say.
