University of Arizona freshman Michael Evan Anderson accidently fell to his death from a roof-top structure on the Colonia de La Paz dormitory early Friday morning, according to University of Arizona Public Information Officer Filbert P. Barrera.
The 911 caller witnessed Anderson, 19, and another unnamed student scaling a 20-foot tower on the three-story hall on Highland Avenue around 3:55 a.m., according to the press release. Reportedly, emergency responders from the Tucson Fire Department attempted resuscitation.
UAPD reports indicate that the fall was accidental, but the investigation is ongoing.

“……scaling a 20-foot tower on the three-story hall on Highland Avenue around 3:55 a.m…” Such a tragedy for the Parents of this young man!!! Why???…Drugs? Alcohol?
We will update the story when we find out.
Good God, the fall may have been accidental, but was scaling a 20′ tower atop a 3 story structure? I thought “pledge season” was over! Such a tragedy for all involved and affected.
This student is actually a 2013 graduate of my son’s high school. The announcement was made at the school this morning. The news is shocking and devastating. Apparently he was a really great student and friend to all that knew him. I cannot imagine the agony his family is going through. My prayers are with them.
Natural selection.
I feel sorry for the parents. It was a shame he climbed the tower and died that way. If he had committed suicide that would be tragic. If he has died in a traffic accident that would be tragic. If had been drunk and killed someone with his car he would have been what you just called me.
Tom F.: Your mean-spirited, malevolent , base comment that this young man was eliminated from the Human Population via Natural Selection; a result of your reactionary/ultra conservative notions of Social Darwinism is absurd!! Instead of reading “Natural Selection for Dummies” as your information source, I suggest that you enroll in a Biological Evolution course at the U of A.
This young man was 19 years old and made a fatal mistake. We all grieve with his Parents/Family/Friends, and Classmates .
He died for no reason. His friend who was with him should have stopped him. The University of Arizona should have kept the door locked that gave him access to the roof. (Bet you won;t hear about that until his parents sue the U of A). He should have been drunk. (if he was at all> we dont know that yet?)
His loss of lihe was tragic but avoidable.
When someone rides a motorcycle without a helmet and wrecks and suffers a major head trauma. What do you call it. I call it natural selection. Call it a bad decision. It is beyond tragic.
I just wont sugar coat it. I have had two friends killed by drunk drivers. They died a horrible death. The drivers who killed them made a fatal mistake.
typo; He should not have been drunk:
