A new Republican candidate wants to see if he can outmaneuver GOP favorite Martha McSally for the chance to take on U.S. Rep. Ron Barber in Congressional District 2 this year. Meet Chuck Wooten:
Chief Master Sergeant, U.S. Air Force (Retired) Chuck Wooten is announcing his candidacy for the Arizona Congressional District 2 (CD2) on the Republican ticket.
Chuck Wooten is seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic Congressman Ron Barber.
Wooten has achieved certain notoriety with his Open Letter to Congressman Paul Ryan regarding the reduction of military retirement payments in the Ryan-Murray Budget that was passed into law in late December 2013.
Wooten is running on a platform that includes steadfast, conservative positions on issues regarding border security, jobs for southeastern Arizonans, healthcare reform and reducing the federal deficit. Wooten offers a clear, common-sense alternative in his approach as compared to the other Republican candidates.
“I deliberately chose a campaign slogan that echoes loud and clear the message that southern Arizona conservatives have identified as the top qualities they demand in their representatives, “Trust. Leadership. Guts.” These qualities are my hallmark and my commitment to deliver to them when I earn their votes,” said Wooten.
Wooten will be making a formal announcement for his candidacy for Arizona Congressional District 2 on Monday, February 3, 2014, at 12:00 Noon on the steps of El Presidio Park, 160 W. Alameda Street in down town Tucson.

It looks like the LD2 Republican primary will be a battle of vacant buzzwords.

It’s early days — he hasn’t even announced formally yet — but “Trust. Leadership. Guts” doesn’t by itself translate into any kind of rational political platform. Let’s hear a bit from Sgt. (Ret) Wooten. We know Col. (Ret) McSally doesn’t want to deal with facts on the ground. Could be that a primary might afford both of them, and the other stealth candidate, opportunity to show the voters of CD2 how they would deal with the issues facing district, state and nation.

Way to put up and rock Chief. Hoping this starts leaders to step out and begin the wholesale changeout of stale legislators.
Don’t be discouraged by distracting comments Chief. We Veterans especially respect others and their right to voice their opinions because we put our lives on the line during our military service to their freedoms! Chief ’em!

Chuck Wooten Will Bring With Him Integrity First, Service Before Self, And Excellence In All We Do. Values Many Of Our Current Elected Officials Don’t Carry With Them
Don’t know anything about the other candidates but I know Chuck brings credibility and integrity and a love of country and doing what is right for America. He is exactly what we need in office, a true representative for Americans who can relate to us on a personal level because he cares about others and not just himself. Its time to take America back based on honesty, integrity and real patriotism.
This country is in dire need of moral leadership. Chuck will provide that leadership.
If I could vote in AZ, I’d vote for Chuck Wooten. He’s a proven leader who would listen to his constituents and work for their good. Go, Chuck!
