Rocking K addition to Saguaro National Park East

STAFF PICK: We paid for it through the nose, and a little long-range planning could've saved us taxpayers a bundle of cash, but the Rincon Valley Area of Saguaro National Park East, purchased for several suitcases of cash, was nonetheless money well spent. Adding a sizable chunk to the southern flank of Saguaro Park East, the area's true value is not its size, but the habitat it includes. Encompassing some critical bottom-canyon riparian niches, the purchase will help protect the integrity of the park's ecosystem. Some ransoms are worth paying; though someday, somehow, we'd like to shake Donny Boy down for a couple million and see how he likes it.
