Best Equipment Rentals

Summit Hut
5045 E. Speedway Blvd.

READERS' PICK: Summit Hut is the de-facto winner for equipment rentals. In the back of the East Speedway store, there's a counter where you can rent rock-climbing shoes, backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads and tents, most at only a few bucks a day.

But in a mysterious twist, Erv's Equipment Rental emerged as the winner here, albeit by a narrow margin against the Hut. Though this new category was listed under our "Outdoor" section on the readers' poll, some confusion (or perish the thought, foul play) resulted in Erv's odd upset. Heh, heh. Though much of Erv's equipment definitely ought to be used outdoors, it's not what we call "outdoor equipment" in the usual sense. Nonetheless, we like Erv's, and many of us homeowners are well-acquainted with the wonders of his inventory, available at reasonable prices on an hourly basis.
